NickHolt
Mary Balzer was one of the all-time great people in South Texas racing. She was one of those unique individuals who made sure you knew she cared about you. It didn't matter if you were last year's champion or a green rookie, the track owner or the low man on the track clean up crew, she treated everyone with the same sincere respect and consideration. Not that she wasn't a strong person. She was more than strong. Just ask Mike. Those of us who were lucky enough to have known Momma Mary will long feel the void her absence will create. My sincere condolences to Mike and the Balzer family. RIP Mary. Nick Holt

ChuckLicata
"Ditto" with what everyone has said here about Mary Balzer... She was a great contributor to the local racing scene...she not only gave to help her son Mike race...but, she played a very important role in the formation of the FASCAR group at SAS...and, her contributions were too many to count, both the FASCAR and the local racing scene.. As Nick said, those of us who were lucky enough to know Momma Balzer personally feel a very big void.. Our best wishes to everyone in the Balzer family. Chuck L. NickHolt
The following is from the current Texas Pro Sedan Newsletter penned by Neil Upchurch and mailed to all TPS members: Mary Balzer died May 3. She was Secretary/Treasurer of FASCAR, owner of #77, and mother of Mike Balzer, who was the 2002 LM Champion. She was a friend of Texas Pro Sedans and a kind lady. Rest in Peace Mary Balzer. RodneyRodriguez
Mary Balzer was a wonderful woman, she always supported my Dad with kind words and compliments when he raced @ SAS in the 80's-early 90's. When we went back to San Antone almost 10 years later,it was like we never left, she greeted us with a smile and told us she had missed us. What a great person, she will be missed.
