NCRA Modified Season Finale This Weekend - Point championship will be decided

Park City, Kansas – October 22, 2013 – With Mother Nature deciding she wasn’t ready to see the battle for the 2013 point championship to be decided last Saturday night for the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products modified division at 81 Speedway in Park City, the tour will try once again this coming Friday and Saturday night in a special two-night version of the “Wix Filters/Bumper to Bumper Fall Classic.”

Friday night’s format will utilize the regular Hutchinson Grand Nationals format: Drivers will draw for heat race starting positions. Passing and finishing points will be accumulated and after those have been completed, another set of heat races will be run. Total passing and finishing points will be accumulated with the top twenty drivers in the points running an “A” qualifier. The top ten of the qualifier will make up the first five rows of Saturday night’s championship season finale. All other drivers “last chance” features with the top ten making up rows 6-10 for Saturday night’s championship finale.

The top twenty drivers in Friday “A” feature qualifier will earn $75. There will be a one-time draw fee of $25. Drivers must compete on Friday night to be eligible for the full NCRA purse which will pay $1000 to win.

Former five-time tour champion Brian Franz of Halstead, Kansas took the victory at the speedway last Saturday night and has two feature victories at the speedway and three-tour wins over all this season.

Two-time and defending tour champion Marc Hurd looks to claim his third championship in a row and will come into the night with a 95 point advantage over Dustin Belcher, who moved into the runner up position in points after last weekend. Belcher is winless this year and looks to not only over take Marc in the point standings but pick up that elusive victory as well.

The lone “Sooner State” contender, A.J. Brochu of Enid, still has a shot and sits 105 points out of the lead.

Filling out the top ten in the point standings and drivers who have made all eleven shows that have been completed thus far include: Dan Powers, Josh Lanterman, Jason McGehee, Don Hodge, Jon Thompson, Justin Moler and Jimmy Brozek.

Thirty-four drivers competed last weekend and that count is expected to be the same for this season finale that pays $1000 to win.

Adult grandstand admission is just $12 for ages 11 and up while children 6-10 grandstand admission is just $5.

Pit gates will open at 5:00 PM with a start slated for 7:00 PM.

81 Speedway is located north of Wichita on I-135 to exit 16, then .7 mile west on 77th St. in Park City. For more race and ticket information contact the 81 Speedway office (316) 755-1781.
