The Young Chevrolet 100 will be staged prior to that evening’s Bombardier 500k Indy Racing League IndyCar Series race. Texas Motor Speedway officials and Young Chevrolet announced the sponsorship of the race Tuesday. The Young Chevrolet 100 will pit the leading short track asphalt late model teams against each other on the 1.5-mile superspeedway. Chris Davidson won the inaugural ROMCO Super Late Model Series event at Texas Motor Speedway last year. “Young Chevrolet has been a long-time supporter of motorsports in the Texas area,” said Dave Davis, general manager of Young Chevrolet in Dallas. “The fans will see the best late model teams in the region compete in the biggest event of their season.” “We are excited to partner with Young Chevrolet to showcase the immense racing talent that competes in the ROMCO Series throughout the state,” said Texas Motor Speedway General Manager Eddie Gossage. “The Young Chevrolet 100 gives fans even more racing action combined with the Bombardier 500 that evening.” The Young Chevrolet 100 is scheduled for 70 laps, an increase over the 2002 race distance at Texas. The race will get the green flag at 4 p.m. Tickets for the June 7 events include both the Bombardier 500 and the Young Chevrolet 100. Tickets are on sale daily at the speedway ticket office, by calling (817) 215-8500, online at www.texasmotorspeedway.com and at Ticketmaster locations.
