Champs Crowned at HOT

 

ELM MOTT-Heart O' Texas Speedway season championships were determined Friday night in all eight classes during the final point race of 2004.

 

Ronnie Warren from Oglesby won the feature and his first IMCA modified season championship at the Speedway. Keith Green from Robinson finished second in points, and Pat McGuire from Belton was third.

 

Steve Spoonts from Belton claimed the championship in the I-stock class. Benji Kirkpatrick from Elm Mott ended the season in second place, and feature winner, Brandon Dulock from Lorena, finished the year with third place points.

 

Chris Cogburn from Robinson took second in the feature but first place in points in the SIMS limited modified class. Roy Ewing from Moody earned the second place spot for the season, and feature winner, Sid Kiphen from Gatesville, completed the year in third place.

 

Doug Andrews from Waco added another feature win and season championship to a long list of victories in his career. Whitney driver Mark Geurin is the second place season finisher, and Ed Thompson from Waco, third.

 

Russell Carter from Waco is the first IMCA hobby stock champion at the Speedway. Second and third place points were earned by Jason Gallimore and Dillon Smith, both from China Spring.

 

For the first time ever, co-champs were named in the pure stock class. Melvin Kemp, Jr. from Riesel and Michael Robertson from McGregor flip-flopped the point lead for much of the season and ended the year in a tie. Both drivers will receive championship prizes. Kevin Smith from Waco was third.

 

Chad Barber from Waco won the feature and the cruiser season championship. Chris Wills from Waco earned second place points, and Corey Homan from Oglesby finished the year in third.

 

The junior mini stock champion is Kevin Green from Robinson. Nathan Sodek from Temple used the feature win to narrow Green's lead to only eight points for the year. Brandon Goodnight from Mart ended the year in third place.

 

The program ended with a chance for owners, pit crew members, wives, and friends to watch a race from behind the wheel in Owner/Pit Crew and Powder Puff races. Post season events begin on Saturday, October 9, with the final Enduro 250 race of the season. ASCS sprint cars will be back by popular demand on October 15 along with cruisers and open competition races for street stocks and pure stocks.
