hobbystock3
i have a saginaw 3 speed 0-line as far as i can tell has 3845157gm stamped on it. it also has 2 cannisters connected to it which im assuming is for overdrive. my question is will this still be a good transmission to run in an asphalt streetstock? why or why not? what do i need to do to hook the overdrive up? JamesHigdon
To my understanding those electric overdrive setups are not up to dealing with large amounts of power, they are an electronically engaged planetary setup that has a fair amount of heft to it. I do know you need a specific shifter to clear the overdrive solenoid, I assume summit or the like carries them still. I would think the best bet would be to find a standard saginaw without OD and gear it to use 3rd gear. You can use the tailshaft off a standard saginaw (3 or 4 speed) to convert your overdrive unit back to non-overdrive.
Alloutpc17
You dont need overdrive on that trans. Stick it in your final drive and race. Saginaws are great all around transmissions for dirt or asphalt. I ran in my modified and held up great.
