rebelracewriter
20 cars started the IMCA modified 20 lap main, led to green by David Smith and Randy Yount on the front row. D. Smith grabbed the lead on lap 1, with Glen Allen jumping into third from his third row start. Smith's lead was short-lived as he went high on the back stretch. Pat McGuire made a bonzai move in turn three for the lead until D. Smith and Chris Renegar. But Mcguire pushed up the track allowing Renegar to get the lead on lap 2. The red came out on lap 3 when Ben Ketteman clipped the back of Allen, turned hard right and sailed over the turn three hill. The car flipped, ending up on it's roof, fortunately Ketteman was uninjured, but last weeks winning car was heavily damaged. Under red, leader Renegar was pushed to the pits giving the lead to Allen on the restart. On the restart Keith White half-spun, collecting Danny Gribble and Joey Smith. McGuire using the low side was able to get the point on lap 4, with Gribble and Joey Craig getting together for another caution. Back under green, White And McGuire ran side by side, with White eventually getting the top spot on lap 5. Greg Atwood moved in to challenge McGuire snagging second on lap 8. Allan Essenburg charged up from his rear pack start to take third away from McGuire on lap 10. At Halfway it was White, Atwood, McGuire, Essenburg and Allen running in the top five positions. Lap 11 saw the final caution fly when J. Smith spun into the pit the pit wall. Rookie contender PJ Egbert, using the high groove, was sailing up after starting dead last. Lap 13 had Egbert, Essenburg and Mcguire three wide for third. Egbert completed the passes on lap 16, and went on a charge in search of the leaders. White and Atwood had built a fairly good lead as they ran nose to tail on the low side. Egbert was only able to close to a couple lengths as the Tomastik team cars took the white flag. As the checkers flew it was White, last years track champ and current points leader, driving the Accent Plumbing/Unique Drywall/Spyder Signs/Tomastik Motorsports/Qwik Chassis to the winners circle. With the absence of Bill "Sarge" Mason due to illness, I got to make my TTS announcing debut!! Hope I didn't mess anyones name up, though knowing many of the drivers made it alot easier. Hey Sarge, Pat paid me .08 Cents and a Dr. Pepper, isn't that about twice as much as he pays you? LMAO Thanx to Big Joe for making me comfortable up there, glad I could help ya out in a pinch. Had a great time! 1 Keith White 23 Greg Atwood 707 PJ Egbert 9 Pat McGuire 11 Allan Essenburg 68 Glen Allen 27 Danny Gribble 63/86 Hardy Henderson 3B John Blann 30 Joey Smith 71 Glen Derks 000 Max Helms 66 Randy Yount 703 David Smith 247 Joey Craig 52 Ken Old 2 Chris Renegar 37 Ben Ketteman A+ Adrian Jez 174 Mickey Helms In IMCA stocks, PJ Egbert got the lead as polesitter Richard Riley slid high in turn three. The only yellow came on lap 8 when Gary Simmerman stopped on the back stretch with a flat tire. Egbert, in the Smith Construction/Phils Paint and Body/Auto Body Parts/Chevy, again ran away from the field in the final laps to take the win. 170 PJ Egbert 424 Mike McDougal 4 Cham Savage 99 Jim Garner 7 Derrick Sears 63c Trace Crawford 27 Johnnie McGehee 411 Gary Simmerman 94 Richard Riley 44 Allen Waltermire 9/97 Jason Batt 747 Chris Simmerman 84x Eric Jones 118 Andrew Simmerman-DNS Street Stock Polesitter Tim Carmen jr. got the lead on green and looked like the possible winner. After a couple cautions early for spins, the action got a little heavy. While battling for the top spots Robert Simmerman and David Gricks made a little contact, Gricks got sideways trying to get back Around Simmerman and was finished off by Chris Moore, who had nowhere to go. Under caution Gricks gave Simmerman some "green paint", and was black flagged for rough driving. Back under green Carmen jr. continued to hold the point until he blew up on lap 10 spinning to stop in turn 1, Jeff Currier spun and almost tagged Carmen's car. Floyd Pruitt inherited the lead and went on to take the checkers in his Bell Pawn/Big Tex/Chevy Camaro, his third win of the season. Simmermans second place finish put him in a tie for the points lead with Mike Waller. 34 Floyd Pruitt 21 Robert Simmerman 12 Scott Cooper 20 Chris Moore 00 Mike Waller 1 Ty Hawkey 66 Frank Torres 65 Jeff Currier 39c Tim Carmen Sr. 97 Brian Fuller 98 TL Bright 42 Nathan Billingsly 0 Tim Carmen Jr. 44 Shalako Ogdon 28 David Gricks 84 Wayne Neff 17 Rick Michael 91 Joe Fuller 89 Anthony Otken Thunder Stock #1 Lee Williams got out to a big lead early while the pack battled three wide behind him. As the top two caught traffic they went three wide past a lap car, with Cox getting the advantage.
