Ramey Takes ASCS Win at HOT

 

ELM MOTT-Fort Worth driver Kevin Ramey claimed the winner's trophy in the Gordon Woolley Classic from a 32 car field of ASCS sprints Friday night at the Heart O' Texas Speedway. Claud Estes from Godley and Todd Johnson from Eunice, Louisiana, picked up second and third place winnings in a program rescheduled after an August rainout. This class will be back by popular demand for a third appearance at the Speedway on October 15.

 

Fans were treated to some intense competition as Keith White from Academy overtook local legend Keith Green with only a few laps left in the IMCA modified feature for the win. Pat McGuire from Belton ran third.

 

In another close race, Jeff Sexton from West fell victim to hard-charging Roy Ewing from Moody with only two laps to go in the SIMS limited modified feature. T.J. Green from Robinson finished third.

 

Whitney's Mark Guerin won the I-stock feature but lost his engine in a post race claim. Brandon Dulock from Lorena and Benji Kirkpatrick from Elm Mott were second and third.

 

It was Andrews and Andrews in the street stock main event with Wacoans Doug taking first place and nephew Greg tailing in second. Jason Gauntt from Elm Mott picked up third.

 

Melvin Kemp Jr. from Riesel blazed the trail in the pure/hobby stock feature for Timmy Kemp from Bellmead and Scott Tacker from West.

 

The cruiser feature win went to Chad Barber from Waco. Russell Brackeen from West and Michael Haisler from Elm Mott ran second and third.

 

Nathan Sodek from Temple, Brandon Goodnight from Mart, and Jay Symm from Lorena were the top three in the junior mini stock race.

 

The point season comes to a close next Friday night with all classes running feature races only lined up by current point standings. Owners, pit crews, wives, and girlfriends will have a chance for their fifteen minutes of fame following the championships in the Owner/Pit Crew and Powder Puff races. A practice session will be held on Tuesday, September 21, from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Pit admission will be $10.00. Grandstands and concessions will not be open.
