champ1796
saw this recently and I was just wondering how much of it is actually true. I grew up at CC Speedway including when Terry ran there. I knew there was tension back then even from the stands. One part mentions Bob shoving someone into the engine bay or whatever because they had questioned the heads or something on the car after a race. He then says something about Terry decking someone. Dont remember that happening but that doesnt mean it didnt. Anyone remember this? http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/features/...car/nslabo.html

HiTech
I WAS STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO BOB WHEN HE STUCK THAT MANS FACE INTO CYLINDER 2. TERRY WAS STANDING JUST OFF TO MY RIGHT WITH KIM WHEN THIS ALL CAME DOWN ...THE GUYS NAME WAS MIKE . HE HAD A VERY SMART MOUTH AND STARTED A LOT OF CRAP.... HIS LAST NAME SLIPS MY MIND RIGHT NOW ..BUT ANYONE WHO WAS NEAR THAT TRACK IN THOSE DAYS WOULD REMEMBER THE VERY LARGE RED WIELDING TRUCK ..HE OWNED THAT .. WHAT BOB SAID WAS TRUE .I REMEMBER TERRY SAYING SOMETHING LIKE OH HELL WHEN MIKE WALKED UP .....AND I REMEMBER THE WORDS MIKE SPOKE AS IF IT WAS YESTERDAY .........QUOTE .. YOU SURE THAT'S A 283......IT SURE DOSE NOT LOOK LIKE A 283 TO ME ...THATS WHEN HE GOT A VERY CLOSE LOOK ..BOBS WORDS WAS SOMETHING LIKE HOW DOES IT LOOK NOW..[ I HAVE TO BE NICE HERE ] ....MIKES REPLY WAS DIFFERENT AFTER THAT ..BOB TOLD ME LATER THAT NIGHT .I HATE SMART MOUTH PUNKS .BOB WAS NOT ONE TO TANGLE WITH ....BTW THE MOTOR WAS LEGAL ...I THINK THE RULE WAS 60 OVER MAX ....THEIR MOTOR WAS 30. AS FOR RAPP AND TERRY ..A LOT OF THAT IS TRUE .... .TODAYS TRACKS ARE TAMER THAN THEN ..YOU WENT TO SEE THE FIGHTS AND A RACE WOULD BREAK OUT .... ADDED NOTE .BEFORE THIS ALL HAPPENED WE WERE IN THE PITS AT TERRYS CAR AND SOME ELDER MAN THREW A HUNDRED DOLLAR BILL ON THE WINDSHIELD BETTING THE CAR WAS LEGAL .THAT DIDN'T GO WELL EITHER ..FRANK HOCH THREW A FIT ..THAT'S WHEN WE PUSHED THE CAR OUT UNDER WALTERS FLAG STAND .AND THE REST IS HISTORY.... jwmbishop
Cool story. I got to meet Terry at Riverside in 85 (I was working the Winston West series that ran on Saturday). GREAT guy - I would not believe he was a hot head - but then I would never believe he would back down either!
