Stoneburner Stones 'em

Denny Stoneburner got the jump on polesitter, Kevin Larkins to grab the lead in the first of two A-mains thursday night. By lap 2 National points leader, David Murray had worked his way from the seventh row to tenth. Jake Durbin, Terry Belcher and Mike Pruitt ran three wide for fifth on lap 3. National points contender, Henry Witt got sideways in turns 1-2 and got hit by Josh Gilman causing Witt to spin and fall to the rear.

Durbin got by Josh McGaha on lap 6 to get into fourth. Murray was trying to pick up sixth on lap 8 as he worked to get around Pruitt. Coming to halfway, Stoneburner had a big lead over Larkins, Roger Haden III, Durbin and McGaha rounding out the top five, with Witt working his way back up to twelveth.

John Logue and Murray ran wheel to wheel on lap 12 for the seventh spot. Murray held Logue off and was still looking to get past Pruitt for sixth. Stoneburner had a huge lead over Larkins with five to go, while Larkins had a gap back to Haden and Durbin.

Murray finally cleared Pruitt for sixth and Logue moved in to take seventh, as Johnny Saathoff worked his way into the top ten from his last row start. With two to go, Stoneburner had nearly a full straightaway lead over Larkins and cruised on to get the victory.

Noble Nips 'Em by a Nose

Scotty Brown and Travis Underdahl paced the second IMCA Modified A-main to green. Underdahl quickly jumped out to the lead while Brown fell back to fourth. Jimmy Gustin snagged second from Mark Noble on lap 1, while the pack was still two and three wide behind them. On lap 4 Keith McCullough was the meat in the sandwich as he got caught in the middle and squeezed Jason Heitt into the back stretch wall.

Underdahl was pulling away from Gustin by lap 5 and threatening to make it another runaway. Jon Thompson moved up to eighth on lap 8 coming from his seventh row start. But the man on a move was Jeff Shroyer as he was charging through the field from the seventeenth starting spot.

At the crossed flags the top five had strung out showing Underdahl, Gustin, Noble, RM Van Pay and Brown in the top five spots. Noble began looking inside Gustin for second on lap 12, while Brown took a shot at Van Pay for the final transfer spot. Brown came up short and lost ground to the top four.

Noble and Gustin were side by side for second on lap 14, as Thompson and Shroyer had their own wheel to wheel fight for eighth. Gustins hopes at Super Nationals starting spot went up in flames, literally, as he exploded a motor in a ball of fire to bring out the yellow on lap 16.Noble tried to duck inside Underdahl on the restart, while Van Pay lost his chance at a qualifying finish pulling off from third

With three to go, Underdahl and Noble were rub rail to rub rail for the lead, while Brown and Scott Mullen swapped third. Lap 18 saw a three wide battle for the final transfer spot between Mullen, Brown and Shroyer. Rik Gropp would spin on lap 18 to set up a two lap shoot out for the win. It wasn't long after green that Underdahl and Noble were at it again. The two took the white flag side by side, as the crowd was on their feet. Coming to the checkers it was Noble by a bumper ahead of Undardahl to snare the victory.
