Smith Sails to HOT Win

 

ELM MOTT-Kevin Smith from Waco borrowed bits and pieces from his friends to get his car to the Heart O' Texas Speedway Friday night and his efforts earned him the pure stock feature win. Timmy Kemp from Bellmead settled fro second and Scott Tacker from West was third.

 

Tommy Kirkpatrick from Elm Mott topped Mark Geurin from Whitney and Doug Andrews from Waco to win the street stock feature.

 

Ronnie Warren from Oglesby took advantage of several fellow competitors' bad luck to win the IMCA modified feature over James Holder from Robinson and Paul Hanusch from Temple.

 

David Khoury from Waco held off strong competition to win the I-stock feature. Steve Spoonts from Belton and Brandon Dulock from Lorena were close in second and third.

 

Russell Brackeen from West won his third cruiser feature by beating out Michael Haisler from Elm Mott and Chad Barber from Waco.

 

Nathan Sodek from Temple, Kevin Green from Robinson, and Brandon Goodnight from Mart took the top three positions in the junior mini stock feature.

 

Ten different age groups competed in Kids' Bicycle Races during intermission.

 

On deck for Labor Day weekend is a big doubleheader program. Friday night's regular race program will be followed on Sunday by the fourth SIMS/ULMA limited modified regional race of the year for this class. Street stocks, pure stocks, cruisers, and junior mini stocks will also be on the program for Sunday. Gates open at 6:00 P.M. and racing begins at 8:00 P.M. both nights. The ASCS sprint race rained out last week has been rescheduled for September 17. For more information about these and other events, check our website at www.heartotexspeedway.com
