rebelracewriter Posted July 11, 2012 Report Share Posted July 11, 2012 Double Header This Weekend for NCRA Southern Sport Mods Park City, Kansas – July 9, 2012 - Picking up four victories out of the six events that have been held thus far this season, Travis Johnson of Enid, Oklahoma leads the Bob Howard PDC and Mopar National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products southern sport modified division into a double header weekend of racing this coming Friday and Saturday night. It all kicks off this Friday night with the tours first ever appearance at Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kansas on a quarter mile oval that is never lacking in competitive modified racing action. Then on Saturday night it is on to the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kansas for the 56th annual Hutchinson Grand Nationals, this year paying $1000 to the championship feature winner. Two-time and defending series champion Chad McNamara is only ten points out of the lead. After years of trying in several different divisions, Chad finally got the monkey off his back and won last year’s Hutch Nationals for the sport mods, eventually leading to his second tour championship. 2010 series champion Todd Decker is not out of the point chase by any means as he is only 35 points out of the lead. Joe Adams, fresh off his first career series victory two weeks ago, sits fourth in the point standings while CP Racing Supply rookie of the year contender Caleb Edwards sits fifth in the point standings. Sixth through tenth in points include Ross McCartney, J. D. Choate, Bobby McGehee, Kevin Snow and Cleo Adams. Other tour regulars who are expected include Chris Lyons, sixteen year old female Courtney McCartney, Robert Elliott, Landon Maddox, Kyle Choate, Mark Harrison and Greg and Andy Deterding. Greg Deterding was the only other feature winner on the tour this season. Gates open at 5:00 pm with races at 7:30 pm for the Friday night show at Humboldt Speedway. The tracks is located off the Humboldt Exit #224, go west one block to electric plant, turn left go to stop sign, turn left. Speedway is one mile on right side of the road. Pit area check-in opens at 3pm, grandstand opens: 5pm; Hot Laps: 6pm; Race Time: 7pm. Grandstand general admission is $15.00 Age 11 & up, $5.00 Children 6-10.
