Peoria, Ariz. (July 9, 2012) – Modified Mania is on tap for this Saturday night as a stellar 2012 racing season continues on at the 1/3-mile Canyon Speedway Park clay oval just north of Phoenix this weekend.

 

In addition to the $1,000-to-win Modified Mania main event for the IMCA Modifeds, Saturday’s action will also feature the CSP Challenge Cup Sprint Cars, Pure Stocks, Dwarf Cars and Bombers. Saturday’s racing action gets under way at 7:00 p.m.

 

The Modified Mania event should be up for grabs with five different winners in six IMCA Modified events at CSP this year. Ricky Thornton, Jr., does carry the hot hand into the weekend though after winning the most recent pair of events, though Anthony Madrid holds a slim 4-point advantage over Jason Noll in the championship points chase entering the weekend with Cody Center, Steve Stultz and Guy Norton filling out the current top five.

 

There has been three different winners in many previous CSP Challenge Cup Sprint Car events this season including Matt Lundy, Zach Sawyers and most recently Dustin Cormany in the track’s 31st Anniversary event on June 9.

 

Ty Weidner tops the Pure Stock win chart with three triumphs though he sits fourth in points behind Chris McCurdy, Jr., Joe Vlasity and Marlowe Wrightsman.

 

The Bombers enter Saturday night with three drivers tied for the championship points lead including John Romero, Joe Peterson and Trenton Setelin. Peterson claimed the most recent feature win after Romero nabbed his second win of the year the previous time out.

 

Dwarf Cars have offered up three winners in three CSP events including Greg Loper, Rick Godsey and Eddie O’Neil.

 

Tickets to Saturday’s Modified Mania are just $15 for adults, with a $2 discount for Military, Seniors and Students. Children ages 7-12 are $6, with children 6 and under admitted free. VIP passes are available for $20.
