Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Clash at the Mag this Weekend in Mississippi

 

WAYCROSS, GA (July 5, 2012) - The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series continues a busy month of July this weekend as the series heads to Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS this Friday and Saturday July 6th and 7th. The "Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau Clash at the Mag" will kick off on Thursday July 5th with an open practice session. On Friday July 6th the LOLMDS will have Red Buck Cigar Time Trials and Heat Races. Then on Saturday Night, July 7th there will be LOLMDS B-mains followed by the 100 Lap "Clash at the Mag" feature event paying $20,000 to win and $1,200 to start. Scott Bloomquist won last years "Clash at the Mag" followed by Billy Moyer and Steve Francis.

 

This weekend's event will also be taped for broadcast in HD by the Lucas Oil Production Studios. The "Clash at the Mag" will be broadcasted on three networks in 2012 including SPEED, NBC Sports Network and MAVTV. This weekend's event is also part of the DirtonDirt.com Crown Jewel Cup. The DirtonDirt Crown Jewel Cup is a mini series of Crown Jewel events on the LOLMDS schedule in 2012. The driver that earns the most points among 10 special Crown Jewel events will receive a special cash award and trophy at the series year-end awards banquet compliments of DirtonDirt.com. Jimmy Owens currently leads the points for this special award.

 

Reigning Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion, Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN is the current series championship point's leader heading into this weekend's event. Owens will be joined by the stars and cars of the series including Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN, Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN, Steve Francis of Ashland, KY, and leading Quarter Master Rookie of the Year candidate, Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA. John Blankenship of Williamson, WV, Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, Tyler Reddick of Corning, CA, Jared Landers of Batesville, AR, Eric Wells of Hazard, KY, and Austin Hubbard of Seaford, DE will also be in the field to battle the regional and national drivers who are expected to be on hand for the event.
