DVeit
Hey all, maybe owen can answer this or hopefully someone knows. I need to know the banking of the track in the turns and on the front and back straight. How wide is the track. And if you have any good shots of the track itself? This info would be very much appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!
NeilTPS
DVeit: Many years ago, when TIDA-LM was booked at CC Speedway, I asked a crew with a "footage wheel" to measure the racing line used by our Super Late Models. The track length came out to exactly - ONE QUARTER MILE - PLUS 100 FEET. I can't correctly answer the remainder of your question. From having driven a race car in many events at CC and from driving around the track a few laps on July 31, I can tell you that turn banking is not constant. It varies considerably from one spot to another. Knowing where to position your car on the best spots is one of the factors which seperates the lap speeds of drivers who know the spots or don't. DVeit
Well that does help. So the track is .25 miles plus 100 feet? Wow i figured it would be a little smaller then a 1/4 mile. I know that turns 3 & 4 have more banking then 1 & 2. How close would I be if I said turn 1 & 2 has about 18 degrees and 3&4 has 19 or 20, and the front and back straight arnt comepletely flat are they? Well im going to the TAMS race tonight and bringin my digital camera, wonder if I can get on the track and take some pics of it?
DVeit
Can you tell me if this would be accurate? 18 degrees banking in 1&2 and 20 degrees in 3&4 the straights have 1or2 degrees?
DVeit
Does anyone have or know where I can find that picture of CCMS from a Heli? I have this but its been shrunk alot, anyone have full size or another?
DVeit
Hello again, I have a favor to ask from anyone that is willing to do it. I was wondering if someone would actually go out on the track and get measurements for me? Measure the width of each, the front straight, turn 1, turn 2, back straight, turn 3, and turn 4 from the grass to the wall. If you have something to find the banking on the track, that would be awesome! If anyone can do this it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED by me and us sim racing guys. Thanks, Veit
racin4fun
Sorry I can not help ya with measureing the track but.. I think the pic you have is very old. If I am not mistaken that is from back when they had the pits up front where the spectators park now. You would need to ask Racinpurplelady or Ratdaddy. DVeit
is there a small apron at CCMS?
ccmotorspeedway
Dveit, seems like the turns were 45 feet wide and the straights a little wider. We measured it when we re-sealed it, next time you and Jason are at the track find me and we will walk out there and measure it. Also I was told the bank in the turns are 12 degrees. Anyway hope this helps.
DVeit
Man the turns are only 12 degrees? Seems more then that but I wouldnt know much about that. And theres a apron in 1&2 but not 3&4?

Jason
We were mapping the track surface with a laser to get measurements down to a cm and get the transitions, bumps, and banking just right.... nah good old fashioned tape measure that broke on the back straightaway and the usual digital camera that sucks taking night time pics. PAPA
Ive never been to this track and was wondering if someone could point out a few things. Where do you enter and exit the track and where is the pits? Do the cars pass in front of the stands to get on or off the track? And do you set up your pits in the sand? thats got to be ruff. What if you need to pit during a race? Can you exit or do you park it on the infield until its over? Thanks
TalkinCorpus
You enter the track in front of the stands, exit going into 3. Can not enter or exit unless yellow (exception was made for TSRS to enter under green @ drivers discretion) Pits are dirt and cleche, The Main stands are on the front stretch, pit stands are in 4 and back stretch goin into 3. Some exceptions have been made for large events to fill the pit stands... Tom Creacy
PAPA
TalkinCorpus...Thanks for the info. Looks like a real neat track. Im going to have to make a point to go visit you guys.
top_shelf_12
Papa, It's a great little track to visit. I'm glad it's my home track and hope that I can get enough money to buy a car someday. Twenty-two years of watching in the stands is really tough. Alot of the times, our local classes are better than the touring series, at least a little more aggressive. The benefits of not spending tens of thousands for a car. The touring guys are great here, but it's much more fun to watch our locals beat and bang on each other and most of the time, don't take each other out. Reminds me alot of the old Longhorn Speedway in Austin. Short track, relatively fast, and alot of contact. We do have two lines here, though most are a little tenative to run the outside line for one reason or another. Hope you can make it down here sometime. REBELRACER
it is a nice track thats for sure...............i was there a few years back and i loved it............it reminds me of the old pan american speedway............i hope to make it back over there soon...............the thing i like about the track is the pits are off to the side so there is a clear view of all the racing action.................plus its neat to see the cars enter right there in front of you, my daughter loved it..............the prices were reasonable and the food was decent, but the best thing i liked about it was the fact that they kept the action going............instead of dragging out an intermission, they did the intermission during an oil cleanup from a wreck.............now that was cool, way to think of the spectators............
