Quick HMS ASA Report

HOUSTONLM04

Recommended Posts

40 cars today

14.30's is best and all the top 10 are running sub-15's, everybody else is low 15's with a few WAY out in left field 16+...

Weather looks like it's going to hold, track is real good but little rubber after grinding...

ASA put out cones today to force them working the outside (good luck)

All the local guys all struggled today... fastest is Hooks and he's running outside the top 20 on the speed charts (15.10's if I remember correctly).

It looks like it's going to be well worth the $20 admission...

Hey Houston LM04,

Keep those LIVE reports coming in. Those of us not able to make it to Houston this weekend are anxious to hear how things are going! And gut feelings are good enough for me.. LOL

You guys are right Romco does have alot more motor but working on a team for Romco and going to all the races. In practice Romco runs 14.50's and 60's and qualify at 14.20's according to my calculations that means that the times from practice to qualifying DROP by 3 to 4 tenths. Does anyone know what ASA qualifyed at and im sure my point will be shown in the times.

MOTOR has nothing to do with them picking up their times. what does it matter if they have more motor, they have 2in wider tires than we do. And they will pick up atleast 2 tenths in qualifying randy5249. Don't look at their last practicies because everybody put their qual set ups on the cars, and did a mach qual run. Look at the first 2 practices. And i would like to say good job to the hooks crew, for changing the entire car up (bunch of changes) in 10 min and gettting doug out there in time for the last practice on friday. (GOOD JOB GUYS) ((PIcked him up 3 tenths in the last practice on friday))

From the changes I seen to the track surface, look for a 14.00 or 13.90 pole time from ROMCO next time. ASA cars are a little slower due to less power, narrower track width and less aero downforce.

I recall Pyle's time being 14.39, Garvey @ 14.44, then the rest were in the 14.5's. Their qualifying times were not that much better than practice times because they have to qualify with their race set-up. They are not allowed to touch the cars between qualifying and the race. Most of the guys that qualified well did it late in the session after a good groove was laid down.

they picked their times up in the last session, they had new tires on and did some other stuff, for a mach qualifying run. Pyle did run a high 4 before then but he had new tires on. So they actually did pick up time in qualifying as do the romco guys. Weather you have motor or not, when the track cools you should pick up, and new tires help a ton. So the whole motor deal is nothing to discuss on this matter, unless i am missing the point of what jont66 and jason are talking about.
