HOUSTONLM04
40 cars today 14.30's is best and all the top 10 are running sub-15's, everybody else is low 15's with a few WAY out in left field 16+... Weather looks like it's going to hold, track is real good but little rubber after grinding... ASA put out cones today to force them working the outside (good luck) All the local guys all struggled today... fastest is Hooks and he's running outside the top 20 on the speed charts (15.10's if I remember correctly). It looks like it's going to be well worth the $20 admission...

champ1796
14.6, wow, I expected them to go faster than that. Romco top qualifier was like 14.2 wasnt it?
Randy5249
Times will drop when they qualify Romco does the same thing during practice run slower al day then go qualify at 3 to 4 tenthes quicker i think its going to be an exciting race. jont66
ROMCO HAS MORE MOTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jason
alot more..
Randy5249
You guys are right Romco does have alot more motor but working on a team for Romco and going to all the races. In practice Romco runs 14.50's and 60's and qualify at 14.20's according to my calculations that means that the times from practice to qualifying DROP by 3 to 4 tenths. Does anyone know what ASA qualifyed at and im sure my point will be shown in the times.
Bar2248
MOTOR has nothing to do with them picking up their times. what does it matter if they have more motor, they have 2in wider tires than we do. And they will pick up atleast 2 tenths in qualifying randy5249. Don't look at their last practicies because everybody put their qual set ups on the cars, and did a mach qual run. Look at the first 2 practices. And i would like to say good job to the hooks crew, for changing the entire car up (bunch of changes) in 10 min and gettting doug out there in time for the last practice on friday. (GOOD JOB GUYS) ((PIcked him up 3 tenths in the last practice on friday))
Bar2248
the crew also picked him up more on saturday, Ran 15.1 on friday, and qualifyed at a 14.6!!!! GOOD JOB GUYS.
Bandit
From the changes I seen to the track surface, look for a 14.00 or 13.90 pole time from ROMCO next time. ASA cars are a little slower due to less power, narrower track width and less aero downforce.
MUmscheid 51
i do believe the pole was a 14.3 by Robbie Pyle but i cant ramember exactly
Randy5249
Your right the pole was a 14.3. So my point is proven that the times did drop wether they are down on power or not. Pratice times where 14.5's and 6's. whitch means they dropped 2 to 3 tenths.
Waco Racer
I recall Pyle's time being 14.39, Garvey @ 14.44, then the rest were in the 14.5's. Their qualifying times were not that much better than practice times because they have to qualify with their race set-up. They are not allowed to touch the cars between qualifying and the race. Most of the guys that qualified well did it late in the session after a good groove was laid down.
Bar2248
they picked their times up in the last session, they had new tires on and did some other stuff, for a mach qualifying run. Pyle did run a high 4 before then but he had new tires on. So they actually did pick up time in qualifying as do the romco guys. Weather you have motor or not, when the track cools you should pick up, and new tires help a ton. So the whole motor deal is nothing to discuss on this matter, unless i am missing the point of what jont66 and jason are talking about. rebelracewriter
Pyle's fastest practice times on Sat were 14.503 in the early session and 14.389 in the late session. He qualified for the pole at 14.396 Butch Miller's were 14.608, 14.500 with 14.628 in qualifying. Just FYI!
Bar2248
Late session was when everyone did MACH QUALIFYING, so that means his fastest time on sat was a .5, so .5-.3 = .2, he picked up 2 tenths in qualifying. From what yall are saying this is what i get.
champ1796
2 inch wider tires would explain the difference in times, I just didnt realize that. By the way, does the ASA allow traction control?
ivicic
No Traction Control at all. I was told by Kluever that they even make them take body parts off in tech to check everywhere on occasion.
Bar2248
they also have different computer boxes, to switch out of the cars to make sure nothing is done to them. (Like more power, or electronic tc etc...)
