Legacy Car Racing at Texas World Speedway

Recommended Posts

The Legacy cars have been invited to participate at Texas World Speedway during the NASA TX August 6th and 7th event.

A few years back, 18 of us made the trip and had a wonderful time. We will be running the 2.9 road course again this year.

The plan would be to run all the Legacy cars together; the race itself would be divided into two groups (road course and circle track). This will allow a circle track setup car to race other like cars for the win and the same for road course setup cars. It would be possible to win both your class and the overall race. Lets see what 20 plus cars look like racing down the front straight.

Here is a link to the Legacy race a few years back. I am not a road course driver but I had a blast.

NASA TX will be providing food and drink Saturday evening.

Hope to see you at the track.

Also, The regular weekend entry fees is $299. Nasa has extended a special Allison Legacy price of $249 for the Allison Series for this weekend. This covers your car entry fee and all your crew members.

TWS has an over night parking fee for overnight camping on Friday night if you arrive after 5pm (same as past years). Gates close on Friday at 10pm.

** New this year** - The gate attendant will visit the back gate at the top of every hour between 5pm and 10pm to allow big rigs into the track. This is a big improvement over past years for those that can't fit through the tunnel.

Thank you Jay for the info.

It was Jay who put together the skydiver etc for the event in the video. If anyone has any questions about NASA TX and the August date you would need to contact Jay. He would be the one who could answer questions about road racing setup, gear selection etc.

Folks,

Below are the required safety standards that all Legacy cars must meet to pass the NASA Safety tech. Please contact me if you have any questions.

SFI labeled head and neck restraints are mandatory (Hans, Defender etc)

Seat belts must be not older than two years old

Helmets must be SA2000 or newer.

Each car must have a minimum of the manufacture spec 2.5 lbs fire system. Full time road racing cars must have at least a 5 lb system with three area protection. (this is a requirement for the nationals but will be waived for the August TWS event for visiting cars.)

One piece fire suits are mandatory

SFI rated racing shoes and gloves are mandatory

All cars will be either equipped with a right side head bolster attached to the seat, or the triangular shaped bolster net installed on the right side of the drivers seat.

The master battery switch must demonstrate it powers all equipment off when disconnected.

All full time road racing cars must have at least one working high mounted brake light. (this is a requirement for the nationals but will be waived for the August TWS event for visiting cars.)

Any driver with facial hair will be required to wear a Nomex beard cover.

All Drivers need to know and understand flagging and flags for road racing. Please have all potential competitors review section 7.0 of the NASA competition regulation. The link to that document is http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/ccr.pdf We will discuss these flag at our drivers meeting Saturday Morning.
