NickHolt Posted March 14, 2011 Report Share Posted March 14, 2011 “Senna” Documentary Director and Formula-1 Race Car Highlight Event in Austin AUSTIN, TX – Organizers of the Formula 1 United States Grand PrixTM made special arrangements with the Williams Formula-1 team to bring one of its cars to Texas in support of aspecial screening of the acclaimed documentary about F1 legend Ayrton Senna at the annual South by Southwest (SXSW) Music, Film and Interactive Festival. The F1 car was on displayat a reception following the sold out screening of “Senna” at Austin’s Paramount Theater. Among the many special guests at a reception following the screening was the film’s director, Asif Kapadia. The British filmmaker joined Tavo Hellmund, Chairman of Formula 1 United States Grand Prix™, for a panel discussion about the film. The two discussed the epic story of the inspirational life of the three-time world champion. “Senna” won the World Cinema Audience Award in the documentary category at the Sundance Film Festival. The Williams F1 car made for a spectacular backdrop at the event as it was displayed in front of the Austin skyline at the Long Center for the Performing Arts. Formula 1 United StatesTM supported the screening of “Senna” at the SXSW film festival. The film will be shown again as part of the festival on March 17 at the Paramount Theater at 7:15pm. About Formula 1 United States Slated to host its first event in 2012, the much-anticipated Grand Prix center will provide a fully-integrated architectural and entertainment experience for both event participants and visitors. The surrounding landscape of the 3.4-mile circuit allows for maximum elevation changes and a combination of 20 turns. Drivers and fans will have the opportunity to enjoy views of the scenic hill country at this state-of-the-art facility that will hold 120,000 fans. The conceptual master plan features additional visitor attractions including a proposed driving/riding experience and seminar building, motorsports driving club, kart track and welcome center.
