rebelracewriter Posted March 4, 2011 Report Share Posted March 4, 2011 NHRA Texas Sportsman Challenge This Weekend at Royal Purple Raceway Attention in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series will shift to Royal Purple Raceway this weekend, March 4-6th, for the annual NHRA Texas Sportsman Challenge where hundreds of sportsman racers will make the trip to the Southeast Texas speedplant for the season opening event. Royal Purple Raceway has long been known as one of the fastest quarter-mile dragstrips in the country and race fans can expect to witness some of the closest and fastest side by side racing on the NHRA division tour throughout the event weekend. The NHRA Texas Sportsman Challenge will feature over five hundred racers from across Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. The competition will race to the quarter-mile marker at speeds in excess of 260 mph in Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Competition Eliminator, Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, Super Comp, Super Gas, Stock Eliminator & E.T. Motorcycle. Saturday's feature show will be headlined by a best two out of three "Texas Style" shootout between the Air Force One and Black Ice jet dragsters.
