A Busy Slate of Action Await NCRA Southern Sport Mods!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Midwest City, Oklahoma – January 30, 2011 - The fastest growing division of the National Championship Racing Association has gained so much in popularity that seventeen races in four different states are slated on the 2011 southern sport modified schedule. The division, entering its third consecutive season, will compete at ten different tracks with four of those venues having never hosted a southern modified event. But all that will change this coming race season.

It all kicks off on Saturday night, April 3rd, at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kansas for their second ever appearance at the home track of the NCRA. The tour will then head west to the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kansas for a Sunday night encounter with the famed half mile dirt oval. After a two week break it is back in action on Friday night, April 15th as they head to another fairgrounds half mile oval, Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Drivers will then head east and just cross the border into Arkansas and Crawford County Speedway in Van Buren. It will be the first ever appearance of any division that NCRA has sanctioned since its inception 41 years ago.

The month of May usually means the month of racing but this month will be tame for the series southern sport mod division as only one show is slated, this at Beaver County Raceway in Beaver, Oklahoma on Saturday night, 21st.

Four races are slated for the month of June kicks off on Saturday night, June 11th at the beautiful Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, Texas. The 17-18th of June will see the tour make a return visit to Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kansas after a one year hiatus before heading to 81 Speedway on that Saturday night. A June 26th appearance at Enid Speedway in Enid, Oklahoma will be the first of five appearances at the Garfield County fairgrounds facility and close out the month.

After experiencing a rain out last year, the tour will once again be part of the Hutchinson Grand Nationals, located on the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson. The 55th running of the Granddaddy of races in the Midwest will feature the sport modified division on championship night, Saturday night July 16th paying a special $1000 to the feature finale winner. Eight days later it will be back to Enid Speedway on Sunday, July 24th before the division makes their first ever appearance at the Salina High Banks Speedway in Salina, Oklahoma on July 30th.

Only one race is scheduled for the month of August, this coming on a Sunday night, the 14th at Enid Speedway.

Another first for the division will be at “The Hummer,“ Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kansas on Friday night, September 9th.

The tour will begin to see the end beginning on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, October 1-2 as part of the annual Enid Speedway Winter Nationals. The long season will come to an end on Saturday night, October 8th at 81 Speedway.

New for 2011 for the NCRA southern sport modified division will be tow money. The top ten drivers in the point standings leading up to each event will receive $25 in tow money. Officials are looking for addition sponsorship for the division. If you are interested and would like to find out more information, contact the NCRA office (316) 755-1781.

The 2011 race season will be the 41st consecutive year for the NCRA, which sanctions the sprint car, late model, modified, southern sport mod and new Great Plains regional late model divisions throughout the Great Plains.
