NCRA Modified South Season Finale This Weekend With Added Money!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Midwest City, Oklahoma – October 11, 2010 - The second full season for the O’Reilly/NCRA modified south division will come to an end this coming Friday and Saturday night with the running of the first annual Mark Robinson Memorial at Brill Motor Speedway in Meeker, Oklahoma. And not only will added money be on the line for this two day event, the battle for the 2010 season championship will also be decided.

Current series points leader Mickey Lassiter will come into the final weekend with a 145 point advantage and will also look to obtain his first feature victory of the season as he has been shut out in the previous eight events held. But four, top five finishes in those events have him sitting atop the point standings, a position he has held since the season opener back in March.

Tulsa’s Matt French currently sits second the point standings and a shot at the championship in his first full season out on the road. Fellow Tulsa driver Chad Davis, an Elk Citys I-40 Speedway feature winner back earlier this season, sits third in the point standings just 70 points behind French for the runner up position.

Alan Oliva of Moore, the only driver to have competed in all thirteen events that have been held dating back to last season, currently sits fourth in the point standings while Thomas Tillison, Jr., a Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, Texas feature winner earlier this season, currently holds down the fifth spot. Positions third through fifth are all separated by only forty points.

Rounding out the top ten in the point standings are Lawton residents Jason Hilliard and Chris Cole while Chandlers Colt Goodman sits eighth in the point standings. Amarillo drivers Alan Sharpensteen and inaugural season champion Gene Weaver sit ninth and tenth but are not expected to compete.

Thus far this season, 130 different drivers have competed in at least one O’Reilly/NCRA modified south event with eight drivers having competed in all eight events that have been completed.

Friday nights format will see heat races and two qualifiers with the top five from each qualifier transferring to Saturday nights 50 lap feature finale. The top five from the first qualifier will make up the first five inside rows while the top five from the second qualifier will make up the outside five rows.

Then on Saturday night there will be two “B” features with the top six from each transferring to the feature finale to make up the twenty-two car field. Saturday nights “A” feature winner will earn $2000 to win with all feature finale starters earning $400. All “B” feature non-transfer drivers will earn $100. Entry fee for this two day event will be $100.

An added $500 has been added to the tenth place finisher with a random draw for two drivers earning an extra $250, not including positions 1st, 2nd and 10th place.

It has been quite a diverse season on the O’Reilly/NCRA modified south trail as seven different drivers have reached victory lane through the eight events that have been held. Along with the feature winners mentioned above, other driver having reached victory lane include Triston Dycus (2), Brandon Morton, Craig Chaffin, Dusty Robbins and John Allen.

Sport mods will also be competing for $1500 to win and $150 to start and their feature finale will be 50 laps as well. Only two barrel carburetors will be allowed, no four barrel.

Gates both nights open at 4:00 PM with racing set to start at 7:00 PM.
