rebelracewriter Posted September 26, 2010 Report Share Posted September 26, 2010 JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour finale rained out By Jeff Werderman WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (Sept. 25) – Mother Nature was the winner Saturday at 34 Raceway. Due to constant rainfall at West Burlington, track and JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour officials have been forced to cancel tonight’s scheduled finale for the IMCA Modified series. There will be no make up date. Sept. 26 is the last date for IMCA national, regional, state and weekly points to be awarded and there is already a scheduled weekly racing event in the area on Sunday. Rookie Mike Jergens of Plover is the series champion. He raced to three top five and seven top 10 finishes in eight events. Richie Gustin Jr. of Gilman led all series drivers with three feature wins and finished second in points. Rich Smith of Davenport earned three top five and six top 10 finishes on the HDT trail and finished third. Vern Jackson of Waterloo and Mark Schulte of Delhi rounded out the top five. Details on the 2010 HDT point fund will be announced in the coming week. All awards will be distributed during the annual IMCA banquet in Lincoln, Neb., in November.
