Tuesday Night Thunder on tap at Osky

 

OSKALOOSA, Iowa (Aug. 17) – Don’t miss “Tuesday Night Thunder” tonight at the Southern Iowa Speedway as the historic “Mahaska County Monster” hosts the American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series featuring Musco USRA Modifieds, Carter’s Manufacturing USRA B-Mods, USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars and USRA Hobby Stocks.

 

With 21 or more entries, the winner of the Modified main event will pocket $1,000 with a minimum $100 to each starter while Stock Cars will race for $400 to win and $75 to start and both the B-Mods and Hobby Stocks will battle for $300 to win and $60 to start.

 

Tuesday’s event will be the next-to-last points night with the Pepsi Season Championships slated for next Wednesday, August 25.

 

Derek Kirkland of Centerville leads the Hobby Stock standings in search of his first track championship at Osky while Oskaloosa’s Tyler Groenendyk is in position to claim his second straight B-Mod title. Former USRA Hobby Stock National Champion Nathan Wood of Keswick sits atop the Stock Car rankings and Steven Blattler of Oskaloosa holds down the top spot in points for the Modifieds.

 

Pits will open at 5 p.m., grandstands open at 5:30, hot laps begin at 7:15 and the first heat race starts at 7:30. General admission grandstand tickets are just $8 for adults, $3 for kids ages 6-12 and pit passes are $25. Children ages 5 and under are always admitted free of charge.

 

The Southern Iowa Speedway is a half-mile semi-banked clay oval located 0.5 mile west of US 63 on SR 92, then 0.3 mile north on I St. (at the Southern Iowa Fairgrounds).
