NEWS RELEASE: May 23, 2004 Friday, May 21, 2004 Estes Wins and Loses at HOT ELM MOTT-Chad Estes from Troy won the I-stock feature but lost his engine to a claim Friday night at the Heart O' Texas Speedway. Steve Spoonts from Belton and Shad Stevens from Troy rounded out the top three. Timmy Kemp from Bellmead was awarded the pure stock feature win after the first place finisher was disqualified for weighing too light. Melvin Kemp Jr. from Riesel placed second and survived a complete engine teardown protest. Kevin Smith of Waco was third. Greg Andrews from Waco held off Mark Geurin from Whitney for the street stock feature win. David Khoury from Waco came in third. Keith White from Academy collected another win in the SIMS/ULMA limited modified feature. Chris Cogburn from Robinson took a solid second and David Stewart from Bruceville took third. Pat McGuire from Belton took top honors in the IMCA modified feature followed by Ronnie Warren from Oglesby and Paul Hanusch from Temple. The top three cruiser feature finishers were Chad Barber and Chris Wills from Waco and Michael Haisler from Elm Mott. Brad Welborn from Allen won the feature in the visiting sprint class. Darrell Fletcher from Mansfield was second and Ray Welnack from Dallas was third. The finishing order in the junior mini stock feature was Brandon Goodnight from Mart, Kevin Green from Robinson, and Nathan Sodek from Temple. Fans can enjoy racing action for three nights in a row next weekend as the Speedway hosts the Texas IMCA Nationals on Saturday and Sunday for IMCA Modifieds, I-stocks, IMCA hobby stocks, and junior mini stocks. Races begin at 7:00 P.M. both nights. On Friday, the three IMCA classes along with street stocks, pure stocks, cruisers, and junior mini stocks will compete in the Night Before the Nationals. Make-up features will be run in IMCA modified and I-stock classes for the races rain shortened on April 30. Friday's race program will begin at 8:00 P.M.
