Fairgrounds Speedway weekend twinbill is

next for EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour

CORTEZ, Colo. (Aug. 9) – Just 13 points separate the top four drivers as the EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour heads to Fairgrounds Speedway for its next to the last doubleheader of the 2010 race season.

Justen Yeager continues to set the pace in standings for the IMCA Modified tour. The defending series champ is five markers ahead of Zane DeVilbiss, another three in front of Ryan Cotrell and an additional five better than Travis Metz heading into Friday and Saturday, Aug. 13-14 shows at Cortez.

While all three of his closest challengers have EQ WWMT checkers to their credit this season – Cotrell swept the most recent doubleheader at Sweetwater Speedway – Yeager continues to be the king of consistency with no finish lower than sixth through the tour’s first eight events.

Pit gates and the grandstand open at 4 p.m. for each Cortez program. Hot laps are at 7:30 p.m. with racing to follow. Features pay $1,000 to win if there are 40 or more entries, $750 to win if there are 39 or less. All EQ WWMT events that pay $1,000 to win are qualifiers for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.

Grandstand admission will be $12 for adults, $10 for seniors $55 and over, $7 for kids, and five and under get in free. Pit passes are $25. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Southwest Racing Specialties Southern SportMods see action both nights, also racing for all applicable points.
