THE King of the Hill Late Model Shootout Awaits NCRA This Weekend!

 

 

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Midwest City, Oklahoma - August 9, 2010 - After taking a well deserved weekend off, it is back to action and race number seventeen and eighteen for the Wichita, Kansas based O’Reilly/NCRA late model division as they join forces with the Missouri based Lucas Oil Midwest Late model Racing Association for the 7th annual “King of the Hill Late Model Shootout” this coming Friday and Saturday night, August 13-14, at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Nebraska.

 

Former four-time series champion Kelly Boen of Henderson, Colorado comes in as the series points leader after sixteen events on the 2010 series schedule. Boen comes in with a 305 point lead over Bellevue, Nebraska driver Corey Zeitner. Boen, who is the career leader in the series late model division with victories (52) picked up eleven victories in his record setting 2009 run and already has nine victories here in 2010. Boen has reeled off four straight victories at Junction Motor Speedway and was the latest series feature winner at the track back on June 19. He is also a four-time winner of this “King of the Hill Late Model Shootout” event.

 

Series leading rookie of the year contender Jase Kaser of Lincoln, Nebraska currently sits third in the point standings and has three, third place finishes thus far on the 2010 race schedule. Wylan Petrie of Soloman, Kansas currently sits fourth in the point standings while former two-time series champion Al Purkey of Coffeyville, Kansas sits fifth in the point standings. Purkey is also a two-time winner of this event.

 

Other series regulars expected to compete include Atlantic, Iowa’s Jason O’Brien, Dean Moore (Grand Junction, Colorado), two-time and defending series champion Kyle Berck (Marquette, Nebraska), Shawn Harker (Plattsmouth, Nebraska) and Jerry Warner (Lavesta, Nebraska).

 

Brad Looney of Republic, Missouri will lead the Lucas Oil MLRA into the King of the Hill battle. Looney is a mere eight points head of Purkey while Dave Eckrich of Oxford, Iowa holds down the third position in the point standings, just fourteen points out of the lead.

 

Among the drivers expected to compete include: John Anderson (Omaha, Nebraska), Evan and J.D. Hubert (Cross Timbers, Missouri), Joe Kosiski (Omaha), Bill Koons (Omaha), Chad Simpson (Mount Vernon, Iowa), Chris Spieker (Massena, Iowa) and David Turner (Adrian, Missouri), Al Humphrey (Giltner, Nebraska), Travis Dickies (Madison, Nebraska), Bo Egge (Kearney, Nebraska) and Delbert Smith (Wichita, Kansas).

 

It all kicks off on Friday night with $2000 being paid to that nights feature finale winner. Gates open at 5:30 PM with racing scheduled for a 7:30 PM start time. The on Saturday night for the championship finale, $3000 will go to the “King of the Hill Late Model Shootout” feature winner. Gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing slated for 7:00 PM.

 

Adult general admission tickets are $12 for Friday night and $15 for Saturday nights championship finale. General admission tickets for ages 6-12 are just $4 while kids ages 5 and under will be admitted free.
