Wills Wins at HOT

 

ELM MOTT-Linda Wills from Axtell won her first cruiser feature Friday night at the Heart O' Texas Speedway. Michael Haisler from Elm Mott finished second and Chad Barber from Waco was third.

 

Veteran racer Keith Green from Robinson won his first IMCA modified feature of the year. Cody Williamson from Waco took second place but went home without his engine after a claim. Charles Lamb from Aledo scored his best finish of the year in third place.

 

Keith White from Academy won the SIMS/ULMA limited modified feature with Chris Cogburn from Robinson edging Sid Kiphen from Gatesville in a wild scramble for second and third.

 

The final outcome of the I-stock race was determined by events following the checkered flag. Duain Pritchett from Combine moved to first place when the first place finisher was found to have illegal engine parts while his engine was being pulled for a claim. Pritchett was declared winner only after giving up his own engine in another claim. Chad Estes from Troy advanced to second and Benji Kirkpatrick from Elm Mott, third.

 

Local driver Jerry Whatley won the street stock feature and Jason Honey, also from Waco, won the make-up feature from April 30.

 

The pure stock feature win went to Melvin Kemp, Jr. from Riesel. Logan Saulters from Bellmead and Kevin Smith from Waco followed in second and third.

 

Jerry West from Fort Worth, Dillon Smith from China Spring, and Chase Neil from Fort Worth were the top three in the IMCA hobby stock feature.

 

The running order in the junior mini stock main race was Brandon Goodnight from Mart, Kevin Green from Robinson, and Nathan Sodek from Temple.

 

Sprint cars will be returning to the Speedway next Friday night. All other classes will also be competing. Gates open at 6:00 P.M., and racing begins at 8:00 P.M. Log in to www.heartotexspeedway for more information.
