for Deery Brothers Summer Series

 

OSKALOOSA, Iowa (July 16) – Southern Iowa Speedway rolls out the red carpet for the Deery Brothers Summer Series when IMCA Late Models come to town next Wednesday, July 21.

 

Pit gates open at 5 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. for the midweek show, the ninth of 16 events on the 2010 tour schedule. Hot laps are set for 7 p.m. with racing to start at approximately 7:30 p.m.

 

The 35-lap feature pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $250 to start.

 

Point leader Ray Guss Jr. of Milan, Ill., is a two-time Deery winner this season. Fellow Illinois speedster Mark Burgtorf of Quincy is second in the standings and owns three wins.

 

Iowa City’s Andy Eckrich now holds down the third spot in points while defending champion Jeff Aikey has won twice and is fourth. Terry Neal of Ely is fifth.

 

Aikey leads all drivers with six series crowns and 54 feature wins over the course of his career, including four checkers at the fast Osky half-mile. The most recent Deery visitor to victory lane was Rob Toland of Davenport, who topped the June 30 feature at Independence.

 

Grandstand admission for the Deery show at Oskaloosa is $15 for adults and $5 for kids ages 6-12. Young­sters five and under get in free. Pit passes are $25.

Knoxville Raceway hosts a rescheduled Deery Series show on Wednesday, July 28. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are also part of that Harris Clash program, postponed from July 7 because of inclement weather.

Deery Brothers Summer Series invades Southern Iowa Speedway this Wednesday

 

OSKALOOSA, Iowa (July 17) – The Southern Iowa Speedway rolls out the red carpet for the Deery Brothers Summer Series when the IMCA Late Models come to town Wednesday, July 21, during the annual Southern Iowa Fair presented by KBOE Radio.

 

Defending event champion Jeff Aikey of Waterloo leads all drivers with six series crowns and 54 feature wins over the course of his career, including four checkers at Oskaloosa's Mahaska County Monster.

 

The 35-lap feature pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $250 to start.

 

Deery Brothers Summer Series points leader Ray Guss Jr. of Milan, Ill., is a two-time Deery Series winner this season and captured the 2008 blockbuster event at Osky. Fellow Illinois speedster Mark Burgtorf of Quincy is second in the standings and owns three wins.

 

Other drivers expected to challenge the big half-mile oval include Andy Eckrich, Terry Neal, Darrel DeFrance, Jeremiah Hurst, Tom Goble, Tom Darbyshire, Matt Strassheim, Tyler Bruening, Jay Johnson, Kevin Blum, Boone McLaughlin, Josh Most, Jason Rauen, Rob Toland, Joel Callahan, Todd Malmstrom, Charlie McKenna and more.

 

Also on the racing card will be a full program of the American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series featuring Musco USRA Modifieds, USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars, Carter’s International USRA B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks.

 

Pit gates open at 5 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5:30. Hot laps are set for 7 with racing to start at 7:30.
