IMCA Great American Stock Car Series goes green June 28-July 1

 

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 22) – The green flag for the richest IMCA Sunoco Stock Car series of the sea­son is just around the next turn.

 

A total of $21,000 will be paid to feature qualifiers over the course of the Monday, June 28 through Thursday, July 1 Great American Stock Car Series. The winner each night goes home with a $1,000 share of the $5,250 purse.

 

Twenty-four cars will start 30-lap features; non-qualifiers will be paid $50.

 

“The number of drivers competing and the amount of money to be paid out make this our biggest week of Stock Car racing,” said IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root. “The changes that have been made from last year make it easier for tracks to schedule these events and for drivers to race for the record purse.”

 

Marshalltown Speedway hosts the opener on June 28. The series is at Buena Vista Raceway in Alta on June 29, at Inde­pendence Motor Speedway on June 30 and at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson on July 1.

 

A point fund of $1,500 will be paid to the top 10 drivers in points, with $350 going to the series champion. That driver also becomes eligible to qualify for the Sunoco Race Fuels Race of Champions at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals in September.

 

National, home region and Allstar Performance State points will be given each night.

 

Both IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are on the card at Marshalltown, where the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m.

 

Buena Vista moves its weekly divisions and Kyle Suter Memorial program to Tuesday. The grandstand opens at 6 p.m. and the first heat race is set for 7:30 p.m.

 

The midweek show at Independence also features the Deery Brothers Sum­mer Series for IMCA Late Models. The grandstand opens at 5 p.m. and racing gets underway at 7 p.m.

 

Stock Cars join IMCA Modifieds following the JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour at Lee County’s Liberty Cup special. The grandstand opens at 4:30 p.m. and racing is at 7:30 p.m.

 

“There are great combinations of IMCA divisions running every night,” noted Root. “There’s a lot going on for fans over the course of this series.”
