Bullring Mania: USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour invades Humboldt, Springfield this weekend

HUMBOLDT, Kan. (June 1) – The mud-slinging Modifieds of the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour returns to the Falcon Wind Power Mo-Kan Region as the touring titans trek to the Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kan., on Friday, June 4, then cross the border for a date at the Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Mo., on Saturday, June 5.

Each program will be a complete show that carries a $2,000 top prize and a minimum $250 to start the WIX Filters “A” Main each day.

Jason Hughes is the current points leader in the Falcon Wind Power Mo-Kan Region where he has amassed four wins in the five events this season, including both ends of the doubleheader at Humboldt on March 12-13.

Dozens of top-level teams are expected to pack the pit area of Ron and Rhenda Whitworth’s facility for the second of three trips this season to Humboldt, including Shryock – a three-time Humboldt Speedway winner. Bone is a two-time winner at Humboldt while Tesch and Holzkamper have one win each.

Hughes leads all drivers with seven career wins at ‘The Hummer.’

Drivers expected to defend their home turf include Justin “Whitey” Folk and his brother Jess Folk Jr., Brian Bolin, Scott Daniels, Gary Langworthy Jr., Dan Daniels, Chris Deaton, Terry Schultz, Ryan Whitworth and others.

In their first appearance last season, Springfield’s Terry Phillips and Jason Hughes staged a classic wheel-to-wheel battle for the entire race with Phillips claiming the victory after taking the lead from teammate Jeremy Payne. Later in the season, Payne rebounded to win when the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour returned to Springfield.

Drivers from Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa and surrounding states are expected to compete in blockbuster event at Jerry Hoffman’s speedplant.

Support classes will include Sport Mods, Legends Cars and Street Stocks as they compete in normal weekly points events. Pit gates will open at 4 p.m. with grandstand gates swinging open at 5. Hot laps are slated for 6:05 and racing is set to begin at 7 p.m.
