(March 15) – Four IMCA divisions are on the program for the season opening Spring Nationals special this Friday and Saturday, March 19-20 at Beatrice Speedway. IMCA Modified features each night pay $1,500 to win, a minimum of $200 to start and are qualifying events for the 2010 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Twenty-four cars will take the green flag each night and all Modified drivers are guaranteed $75 a day in tow money. National, ButlerBuilt Central Region and Allstar Performance State points will be given for both shows. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods race for $400 to win and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks run for $300 to win Friday and Saturday. National and state points will be awarded in each class; Hobby Stocks also earn Probe Industries Northern Region points. Friday’s show also sports a $200 to win feature for Mach-1 Sport Compacts in a national and state point event. An open practice session for all divisions runs from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, March 18. Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. Friday, with hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m. On Saturday, gates open at 2:30 p.m., hot laps are at 5 p.m. and racing is at 6 p.m. Grandstand admission each race night is $14 for adults and $5 for kids 10 and under. Pit passes are $10 for Thursday’s practice and $25 for Friday and Saturday shows. (March 16) – By mid-afternoon tomorrow, promoter Toby Kruse and his crew at Beatrice Speedway will know whether they’ll be getting the race track ready for their Spring Nationals special or if they’ll be spending the weekend watching college basketball on TV. Headlined by the a pair of $1,500 to win features for the Modifieds, four IMCA divisions are scheduled to see action Friday and Saturday, March 19-20. With wet track conditions currently and an ever-changing forecast to consider, Kruse will make the decision to continue preparing for, or to cancel the event, at 3 p.m. on Wednesday. “We want to make sure we can provide a good track both days. We don’t want to have drivers towing to Beatrice from all over, then go home with damage caused by rough track conditions,” Kruse said. “We also have to consider the forecast and what effect it could have on our car count and grandstand attendance.” “We’ll do everything possible to get Spring Nationals in,” he added. “This is one of the best early season specials around and we’d hate to have to cancel."
