(January 26, 2010) – After a successful inaugural season in 2009, the American Sprint Car Series Lone Star Region returns with another strong schedule of events for the upcoming 2010 campaign. The ASCS Lone Star Region is currently slated for 17 nights of competition at eight different tracks. While 16 of those nights will take place within the Lone Star state, the series will venture north of the Red River on one occasion to tangle with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region. The series will kick off the 2010 season by taking on the Lucas Oil Sprint Car forces at Kilgore’s Lone Star Speedway on April 9. Lone Star is also set to host the season finale on September 11. Between the Lone Star Speedway’s ASCS Lone Star Region bookends, the series will take to Cowtown Speedway’s high-banked, ¼-mile oval on four occasions, Crandall’s RPM Speedway and Mesquite’s Devil’s Bowl Speedway three times each, Waco’s Heart O’ Texas Speedway a pair of times and Abilene Speedway and Boyd Raceway once apiece. The ASCS Lone Star contenders will take on both the ASCS Sooner and Gulf South Regions over the course of the 2010 season. Lone Star vs. Sooner Red River standoffs include a two-night stand at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX, on June 18-19, a Lawton Speedway stop on July 10 and then an RPM Speedway-Cowtown Speedway weekend on July 16-17, while Lone Star vs. Gulf South showdowns consists of a July 23-24 weekend at Heart O’ Texas Speedway and Devil’s Bowl Speedway. Already a two-time ASCS Sooner Region champion, Fort Worth’s Kevin Ramey captured the inaugural ASCS Lone Star title in 2009 by a 193-point margin over Brad Welborn. In its 19th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing, the American Sprint Car Series brings the best of Sprint Car racing to approximately 100 different tracks throughout 30 states and Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of a dozen different Regions throughout the nation.
