ASCS Sooner Schedule Is Set

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (January 26, 2010) – The American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region is set to bring another year of exhilarating Sprint Car racing action to the State of Oklahoma and beyond with another full slate of competition in 2010.

The ASCS Sooner Region is currently set for 14 nights of competition at nine different tracks throughout Oklahoma, Texas and Missouri, with one additional date to be determined.

While the majority of events will be within Sooner boundaries, the series will venture to Missouri once to take on the Winged Outlaw Warriors and into Texas on a pair of occasions to tangle with the ASCS Lone Star Region.

The ASCS Sooner forces will kick off the 2010 campaign on April 24 at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, OK, where they will return on July 31 and one additional time that has yet to be determined.

Also hosting the series three times in 2010 will be Lawton Speedway in the southwest portion of the state. Other Sooner State venues include Muskogee’s Outlaw Motor Speedway on a pair of occasions, including the June 4 event in conjunction with the Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series, and returns to South Coffeyville’s Mid-America Speedway and Enid Speedway Park.

A night after the series first Outlaw Motor Speedway stop of the year on May 7, the series ventures into “Show Me” territory for a WOW showdown at Springfield Raceway.

The ASCS Sooner and Lone Star forces will square off a handful of times as well, including a two-night stand at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX, on June 18-19, a Lawton Speedway stop on July 10 and then an RPM Speedway-Cowtown Speedway weekend on July 16-17.

Joe Wood, Jr., took the ASCS Sooner Region title back to Oklahoma City for the first time since Danny Jennings claimed the crown in 2002, edging Glenpool, OK, shoe Matt Covington by 32 markers for the 2009 title.

In its 19th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing, the American Sprint Car Series brings the best of Sprint Car racing to approximately 100 different tracks throughout 30 states and Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of a dozen different Regions throughout the nation.
