I SUGGESTED AN R&D SYSTEM ... SEEING THE TRACK WILL BE TESTING TIRES . THEY COULD ALSO GET A READING ON TIRE WEAR WITH FWD.S ..... THE TRACK HAS THE FINAL SAY SO HERE ..WE CAN AND HAVE BEEN GOING BACK AND FORTH ON SPEEDZONE .AND THIS NEW THREAD IS JUST LIKE THE OTHER ONES ..SO LETS GET OVER THE SMART A$$ REMARKS THE FINGER POINTING AND WHAT NOTS .. IM GUILTY .AND SEE IF MORE PROFESSIONAL DIALOG CAN COME INTO PLAY HERE ..I AM SURE THE TRACK WILL GO ALONG WITH THIS IF IT IS MORE PROFESSIONAL AND TESTS SHOW THIS TIRE WEAR TO BE THE CASE FOR THIS THREAD ..

You guys give me too much credit on knowing stuff. The fact is my secret is a very simple one.I race a Volkswagon. My car is 99% stock. All I do is keep it up the way VW wants it.They are just a superior make.Long rod, large stroke ( almost 4 inch) forged crank and rods, well build chassis.Suspension points are so far inboard you can knock off a complete assembly, bolt on new suspension and go again without frame damage.Everyone who has races one has had great success.David Horton was unbeatable for a while,Makk Villerreal won 20 features in Sams rock,One of my guys here at RGS won 3/4 of the races with a rock, the same rock won with 5 other drivers some of whom were beginners.Sergio and Mike win in Pro Sedans right now.Thw VW trucks were a little slower by design but I remember one championship race where all 3 top finishers were VWs.My Karman Ghia was so dominate the rules were changed to get rid of it.

My point is if you want to even out the field of Thunders, you dont have to keep making up dumb rules, just outlaw Volkswagons. They are cheap to build, strong as heck, and dont need a bunch of aftermarket pieces to be fast.Just an understanding of the product.I bet poorboy will agree,he is a professional mechanic too.Im amazed that there are not more of the VWs.But now its not a good choice with all the restrictions.I still think the ultimate Thunder car by todays rules would be a Nissan 240 SX,about a 95 with a twin cam 2.4 and RWD.A couple of cams, headers and a 500 holley or stock fuel injection combined with a compression increase and you have a 200 hp 4 wheel independent suspension sports car with great weight balance.Put it 3 inches off the ground and max left side weight by using componet location and wheel offsets, soft springs and big bars, add the r rated tires in a 16 or 17 inch and you have a low 15 second Thunder car.Add slicks for a TPS race and hi 14s is possible. In a modern car.

The only reason I started this new tread is because I asked someone that has a say so in what goes on at CC and was told to make this tread and see what people had to say not to get everone talk bs agian looking for real imput.

bj34,its impossible to get a true poll on this or any other forum. If you really want a true opinion you need to contact each team for their imput. Most of on here dont take forum seriously and half or more racers dont even read this stuff.Just pm or phone call as many as you can and document their answers.

Everybody knows my opinion. Also Charley,Cody,HOT,you and crt. What about Nellie,Tommy,Josh,Daniel,Randy,or any other regulars?Their opinion also counts.

Again the track has the final say so,why not ask them the purpose of the rule and what would happen if changed.

Nick, now would be a great time for some factual techonicial imput,as you are un-biased when it comes to chassis understanding. What are the pros and cons of allowing rear camber in any car?How about just FWD cars?I remember what Bill Elliot did in 1994 when he invented the rear camber on a live rear axle.4 wins in a row.

oh shoot this is going to hurt.....it maynot mean didly to some coming from me ....but after thinking aboult it over the last couple of days ..i say let the fwd,s have thier camber ..it wont help them get much faster anyway .... we have the option to adjust our camber in the front .they have to do it in the rear ..its only fair the rule should be put in place to let the fwd.s have the camber ..i will give up.my old backwood way of thinking and join the fwd gang on this one ...ouch...... now gb this does not mean we will go on a date ...

Right now my problem is a transponder.Since I was only renting last year I have no credit tward a purtachase.RGS tells me they might not have any to rent, they save them for out of towners.I told them I was a Corpus car but they did not buy that.At least I will get to test drive the rabbit even if I cant race it.Should have finished buying mine last year, they were a good price by compairison.I missed the last few races because of a flame out so I missed my chance.

CRT did not want to sell one so I bet he comes back to race.BTW,I found out you cannot redgester a used transponder. You must turn it in to AMB for a new exchange for 255$.The transponder can only be redgestered one and to the original owner. They can still be used for scoring at the local track however, just no my laps.

Rosanna Danna used to say, "its always something". I was so proud that I built the rabbit from junk and spare parts and the whole thing cost 90$ The Scirroco will cost more, not much useable from the post toastie engine.Pistons and head are junk.I am going to build a tall block long rod flat top ABA engine with a 1.8 GTI head.It will cost me about 350$ in new parts if I can find the used Passat pistons.

I know this has nothing to do with anything but I have friends up north that read this junk.

On a FWD race car the Right Rear camber is no where near as critical as the Right Front camber. In fact, some FWD teams actually prefer not to use any because it tightens the car up if their spring rates are just right for a given track. It does help with tire wear if nothing else.

To get a bit more technical, if the Front Roll Couple Distribution is too low (too much wheel rate a the rear) or if there is a bind in the rear suspension the back of the car may be too loose and adding camber would help reduce the amount of oversteer present.

On the Rabbit and similar cars, the rear axel also serves as a torsion bar. It it's stock configuration it is too weak so many teams cut the bar in half, more than doubling it's rate. This seems to work well, but is illegal in some racing divisions.

i had right rear camber on my escort , it helped a whole lot with keeping speed up in the corners . saved on tires too ! i had to alot of spring swapping to make this work . just remember rolling threw the corners is important , but you better have the motor for the straightaways ! just ask oldtimer ! you have to feed him to get information out of him

IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT TIRES YOU RUN , ITS ALL ABOUT MOTOR ! I PROMISE YOU ! YOU WILL NOT EVEN A CLASS OUT BY USING A TRACK TIRE RULE ! REMEBER , WHATEVER YOU DO TO THE RIGHT REAR YOU AHVE TO DO THE OPPOSITE TO THE LEFT FRONT !

Motor is important if thats what the rules dictate. Tires the same. The R&D idea that was mentioned earlier sounds like a great way to determine many things for the future of this class and maybe others. Good thought
