rebelracewriter
24 of the 32 cars started the 25 lap Modified a-main with Keith McCollough and Henry Witt on the front row. On the first try, Max Eddie Thomas and Keith White got together and spun in turn one causing a traffic jam behind them. On the next try two time National Champ, Witt grabbed the lead going into turn one, while Glen Hibbard made a move up to fourth from his sixth starting spot. On lap 3 McCollough looked inside and got along Witt, but Witt held him off and by lap 5 had built a 3 car length advantage. In the meantime there was a good three car fight going on for fourth between Hibbard, Kenny Stone and James Holder. On lap 10 both Stone and Holder got around Hibbard as McCollough was closing back in on Witt. As the crossed flags were shown it was Witt, McCollough, Gary Chambless, Stone and Holder in the top five. Witt and McCollough caught traffic on lap 15 with McCollough again taking a peek inside. Billy Garza and Aaron Spangler, from Colorado, were charging towards the front from their 8th row starts. With 5 to go Witt had gained a little distance on McCollough, with Stone and Holder scrapping it out for fourth. Witt again got slowed by traffic with 3 to go, allowing McCollough and Chambless to close in. But neither had anything for Witt as he added another feature win to his resume putting the Affiliated Glass/JR Motorsports/Wilson Chassis Co./HOT Chassis in victory lane. 701 Henry Witt 727 Keith McCollough 123 Gary Chambless 99H James Holder 5K Kenny Stone 171 Billy Garza 127 Glen Hibbard 16 Aaron Spangler 1 Keith White 18 Tim Clonch 13x Jim Thorpe 14 Josh Landers 82 Max Eddie Thomas 168 Greg Spangler 01 Mac Harmon 2 Chris Renager 4 David Hanusch 144 Scotty Brown 911 Josh McGaha 99 Robbie Watkins 707 PJ Egbert 91 Tracy Fink 715 JP Dowell 44 Michael Sams Benji Kirkpatrick and Eric Jones paced the 24 car field to green at the start of the I-stock A-main. It wasn't long till things got real ugly. The pack stacked up going into turn one with Phil Egbert spinning and others scattering. The next try wasn't any better when Tim Ezell got sideways ans was hit by Duain Ptitchett, Robert Jones and a host of others, with several spinning the melee. During the cautions the twin cars of Scotty Brown and Jeff Turner both pitted, and Pritchett suffered damage to right front A-frame, but was able to continue. Finally on the third try Kirkpatrick got the lead on lap 1, but going into turn one on lap 2 Jones spun in front of the field Collecting Jason Bogard and Chad Estes. On the restart Kevin Sustaire tried low on Kirkpatrick as Pritchett was trying to get by on the high side. Lap three saw Pritchett and Kirkpatrick run door to door, the duo again were side by side on lap 5. Pritchett finally got by on lap 6 as he, Kirkpatrick and Tim Clonch were three wide coming down the front stretch. Clonch and Kirpatrick continued to battle for second as Pritchett eased ahead. Clonch finally made the pass, while Gore, Kirkpatrick and Sustaire banged for third. At halfway it was Pritchett, Clonch, Gore, Sustaire and Kirkpatrick in the top five.Pritchett and Clonch then pulled away and were nose to tail when the final caution came on lap 15. On the restart Clonch gave Pritchett a little love tap as they and Gore broke away from the pack. The top three ran inches apart with four to go while Brown, coming from the back, got around Kirkpatrick for fifth. Gore took an unsuccessful shot, going inside Clonch with two to go. Clonch then gave Pritchett another shot, literally, on the last lap. But current I-stock points leader Pritchett driving the Arty & Sons Paint and Body/CA's Auto/Brad Transmission/Toms Auto Glass/Southwest Engines/Adavantage Race Car, held on to get the win. 22 Duain Pritchett 18 Tim Clonch 021 Jason Gore 87 Kevin Sustaire 441 Scotty Brown 47 Benji Kirkpatrick 21 Mark Mohon 97 Doug Lorenz 144 Jeff Turner 170 Phil Egbert 13 Shannon Parsons 73 Tim Ezell 83 Chad Estes 3M Jason Bogard 42 Brandon Kirkland 11 Kenny Weir 84 Eric Jones 4 Cham Savage jr 78 Trevor Egbert 74 Robert Jones 27 Johnnie McGehee 32 Chris McDonald 44 Allen Waltermire--in Pritchett's back up car 117 Rodney Everhart Turner and P. Egbert both tried to claim Pritchett, who lost his saver when Waltermire fell out early. Turner won the draw for Pritchett's motor. In the local Street Stock class, 15 cars started the 15 lap main led by Michael Walter and Ty Hawkey. Hawkey jumped into the lead with Walter right on his bumper. Robert Simmerman joined the fight on lap 5 as he battled with Walter for second. At the mid point Hawkey continued to hold the top spot, with Walter, Simmerman, Scott Cooper and Anthony Otken rounding out the top five. Walter and Simmerman made contact, with Walter falling back to fourth. Simmerman then used the low side to grab the lead from Hawkey on lap 11. Floyd Pruitt was on charge from his start near the rear, when he and Cooper made contact sending Cooper spinning. On the restart Simmerman got out to a good lead while Otken and Pruitt battled for second, with Pruitt making the pass. Coming to white flag, Simmerman suffered a flat tire coming out of turn four and spun to the infield, giving the lead to Pruitt. Pruitt held on the final lap to grab the win. 34 Floyd Pruitt 89 Anthony Otken 00 Michael Walter 42 Nathan Billingsly 28 David Gricks 1x Ritchie Robins 98 TL Bright 1 Ty Hawkey 12 Scott Cooper 21 Robert Simmerman 97 Brian Fuller 20 Chris Moore 65 Jeff Currier 36 Tracy Kitchens 39 Paul Mullins 91 Joe Fuller-DNS
