Most often the flag is used for mechanical reasons such as loose parts or leaking fluids, in which there should not be a penalty just the time lost on the track. I can't remember the last time I saw the black flag used for bad driving but if it were used I would assume the same thing unless there was a penalty applied by rule. Nathan Posted September 22, 2009 Report Share Posted September 22, 2009 at texas thunder a black flag means that you have three laps to see the pit stewart (which is always in the red/yellow area). if you do not comply after three laps you are no longer scored.
