TERRY DICKERSON TO RECEIVE LANNY EDWARDS AWARD

FORT WORTH-DALLAS (March 31, 2004) – Terry Dickerson, promoter at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, Texas, has been named the winner of the Lanny Edwards Award for excellence in short track auto racing promotion. Dickerson will receive his award Sunday prior to the Samsung/RadioShack 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.

The Lanny Edwards Award is presented by Texas Motor Speedway and Edwards to an auto racing promoter in the region that is instrumental in the growth of short track racing. Edwards is the promoter at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas; State Fair Speedway in Oklahoma City, Lawton (Okla.) Speedway and co-promotes the indoor O’Reilly Chili Bowl midget race in Tulsa, Okla. every January.

Dickerson has brought Lone Star Speedway into national prominence with several touring racing organizations competing on the three-eighths mile high-banked clay oval. In addition, regular Saturday night stock car competition in several divisions is presented during each racing season.

Dickerson was also instrumental in helping organize and stage the Pro-Cuts Texas World Dirt Track Championship at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track in March. The inaugural event featuring the O’Reilly SUPR late models and modified stocks drew 150 cars and large crowds during its two-night run.

“Terry Dickerson is concerned with presenting a racing program that all members of the family can come and enjoy,” said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage. “His racing programs at Lone Star Speedway provide fun, family entertainment for race fans in East Texas. Terry is most deserving of this award for his efforts.”

Edwards will present Dickerson with the Lanny Edwards Award during pre-race ceremonies prior to Sunday’s NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.
