Another prayer request...

I do read all the prayer request and send my silent prayer, but rarely respond. I am now asking for one for my dad, George Hermiz. He had some blockage in his leg and abdomen and had surgery on them on Monday. On Tuesday, he was rushed back to surgery because he had internal bleeding. During the surgery, or sometime after, he had a mild heart attack. He is responding to us, but his condition is not getting any better. He told me 2 years ago that he did not want to go through another surgery. I can see the pain in his eyes when I visit him. He is in CV ICU at Memorial Herman Southwest. I spend a few hours at the office, and then run down and stay at the hospital everynight until 9, when visiting hours are over. Its an hour drive home for me each day, but he is my dad and unfortanately I have to run the office, because it is him, me and my wife, otherwise I would just stay down there. He is 71 years old, he came to several of my races at HMP in the past few years and at Gator this year, you couldn't miss him because he wore a big cowboy hat. Please send a prayer for him. Thank you

Arthur

Thank you guys. I was told when I got here that my Uncle had broken down crying, giving up hope. I got to see him at 5 pm and he was awake. He looked a lot better. They said betwen 1:30 and 5 pm tonight he made a big turn around. I want to thank all of you for your prayers. I know we are not out of the woods yet, but I am very optomistic today.

Keep the prayers coming guys. Its been a rough day. Doctors are not sure if the kidneys are working now!!! Its been a real tough week for me and my family. Again, tomorrow I have to spend half the day in the office, then go to the hospital to be with him. Just please keep the prayers coming, cause I know that is helping.

Got a phone call early this morning, they have lowered his oxygen level down to 40, they may be able to take him off the respirator in the next couple of days. The specialists are still concerned about the kidneys, but he is doing better. I am getting ready to go and see him. Thank you all for the prayers, I know they are helping him.

"Got a call from the hospital, they said my dad is doing a lot better. The Dialasis helped yesterday, they are doing it again today. The swelling in his body has gone down, he is breathing better, and my brothr said he even looked to have a smile on... his face. I will be going to see him later today again."

  • 3 weeks later...

First I would like to say all of you for your prayers and concern. I was informed that people were asking about my dad and would like an update. As I began typing this I recieved a call from my brother. I was going to let everyone know that he was being moved to a Long Term Care Facility to rehab his lungs. He has been doing good for the past couple weeks, just fighting off a few infections, his Kidneys are starting to work again. His lungs are beginning to clear up. His heart and everything is working fine. Yesterday, while I was there, I visited with his surgen, and he informed me that they had just replaced the tracea tube because the other one was not sealing. This morning, the Dr. told my brother that the reason for the change in the tracea tube, was that his throat was raw, and serioulsy infected. He has been on a ventalator for 32 days now. They have given him some antibiotics, but that is all they can do now, and it is serious enough that they will not move him to the long term facility until he is stable again. The ventalator is causing the infection, but until the infection is clear, they can't start trying take him off the ventalator. Again, thank all of you for the prayers and phone calls. Hopefully in the next week or so we will have better news, like I was about to type before the phone call.
