TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY ANNOUNCES PURSE FOR RPM WEEK-TEXAS

FORT WORTH-DALLAS (March 24, 2004) - More than $8 million will be up for grabs

during the four days of racing April 1-4 at Texas Motor Speedway.

The Samsung/RadioShack 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race on Sunday, April 4, will offer

a purse of $6,767,841, an increase of $720,082 from 2003. The winner is likely

to receive more than a half-million dollars.

The O'Reilly 300 NASCAR Busch Series race on Saturday, April 3, is offering

$1,343,933, an increase of $59,441 from last year.

"Texas Motor Speedway hosts two of the largest events in NASCAR with our Busch

and Nextel Cup races each and every year," said speedway general manager Eddie

Gossage. "The drivers in both series realize this is one of the premier events

each year, and that has been demonstrated by how many drivers are testing here

this month. They also recognize that the Samsung/RadioShack 500 purse is the

third-largest of the NASCAR season."

The inaugural Cup Series race at Texas in 1997, offered a purse of $3,802,255

and has continued to grow steadily. The NASCAR Busch Series event, which

offered $783,150 in prize money back in 1997, has also consistently provided one

of the biggest series paydays of the year.
