ROCKETMAN LOOKING FOR ANOTHER BLAST INTO VICTORY LANE AT TEXAS

FORT WORTH-DALLAS (March 11, 2004) - Ryan Newman, driver of the No.12 ALLTEL

Dodge, will be looking for another trip to victory lane during the upcoming

Samsung/RadioShack 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series event on April 4 at Texas Motor

Speedway. Or rather "Rocketman" will be looking for another blast into victory

lane.

Nicknamed, "Rocketman" after posting a series-high 11 poles in 2003, Newman

celebrated his first NASCAR NEXTEL Cup win last season at Texas and is looking

for a repeat. Newman, the first Penske Racing driver to win at Texas, has his

work cut out for him. To date, a driver has yet to win back-to-back races at

Texas in the Cup Series.

Aside from possibly becoming the first two-time Texas race winner, Newman also

has the opportunity to alter the record books with his pole winning experience.

Currently no Cup driver has won a Texas race from the pole.

"The ALLTEL team's expectations going into Texas are just like they are for

every race," said Newman. "We want to earn the pole on Friday and win the race

on Sunday. That's how we go into every race. We want to win them all. That's the

mindset we have going into every race weekend."

The mindset and the strategy may be the same race to race, but every track

possesses unique characteristics, including Texas Motor Speedway.

"This track is the fastest track on the circuit," said Newman. "The racing at

Texas Motor Speedway is only going to get better. The fans see a great race

there already, but as the pavement ages the track will get wider. When that

happens there will be an increased amount of side-by-side racing."

If all goes well, Newman will once again carry home the infamous Justin Boot

Trophy while donning an exclusive Texas Motor Speedway cowboy hat. Rocketman

with a cowboy hat?

"Ahhh...the cowboy hat," sighed Newman. "Right now, it's hanging from the trophy

I won there last year. That's only appropriate, right?"

Texas Motor Speedway season tickets, which include a frontstretch seat for the

NEXTEL Cup race, are available daily at the speedway, by calling the ticket

hotline at (817) 215-8500 or online at the speedway's website,
