WORLD OF OUTLAWS RETURN TO HOME OF BEST 2003 RACING ACTION

FORT WORTH-DALLAS (March 9, 2004) – The World of Outlaws Sprint Series will return to the site of its most competitive 2003 racing on Saturday night, April 3 in the NGK Spark Plugs Shootout at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track. The NGK Spark Plugs Shootout is part of the Samsung/RadioShack 500 race week.

Motorsports Video selected three of the four nights of 2003 World of Outlaws sprint car racing at the Dirt Track among the 25 best programs of the series’ season. Steve Kinser scored a stirring victory over Danny Lasoski after an epic battle in the spring WoO feature. Daryn Pittman opened the fall weekend with a late-race pass of Kinser in the preliminary main event. Jason Johnson wrapped up the weekend in victory lane after charging from 13th starting berth.

Kinser will return to the Dirt Track for the NGK Spark Plugs Shootout as he guns for a record 19th World of Outlaws Sprint Series championship. Former series title winner Lasoski will be among the field along with sprint car veterans Tyler Walker, Donny Schatz, Sammy Swindell, Pittman, Craig Dollansky, Paul McMahan, Brian Paulus and Dean Jacobs.

Four drivers striving to earn the series’ Kevin Gobrecht Rookie-of-the-Year Award will also be at the Dirt Track. Kraig Kinser, Steve’s teenage son, will be seeking his initial Texas WoO victory. Other rookies expected are Brian Brown, Jonathan Allard and female sensation Erin Crocker.

Gates will open for the NGK Spark Plugs Shootout at 5 p.m. followed by World of Outlaws practice an hour later. A complete WoO program including qualifying, heat races, two dashes along with B and A features will be presented. Legends Cars will also compete on the four-tenths mile speedway.

Reserved seats for the NGK Spark Plugs Shootout are on sale at the speedway ticket office, by calling (817) 215-8500, online at www.texasmotorspeedway.com and at Ticketsmaster locations.
