the 2008 show was KO’d by rain.

Hometown hotshoe Jason Frankel became the latest winner at Quincy

Raceway when the series made its 20th visit there last August. Another local, Mark Burgtorf, has an impressive six career wins to

his Deery credit at Quincy.

Davenport, Maquoketa and Quincy were also sites for the last series

tripleheader, April 16-18, 2004. Rob Toland won all three of those

events, setting the stage for his tour championship that season.

Sixty-six Late Models were in the pits when the 23rd annual series

opened April 11 at 34 Raceway in West Burlington. Frankel led from

start to finish of the evening’s Slocum 50 Memorial.
