Bobby Ruffin and Jared Webb paced the 24 car, 20 lap Modified A-Main to green, with Ruffin getting the jump. Back in the pack Phil Dixon got pushed up into the wall, collecting Nicholas Littlejohn, who pinned Richard Griffin into the fence. The second try wasn’t any prettier, Ruffin again was out first, with Webb and Scotty Brown side by side for second. Coming tocomplete lap 1 Keith Green spun and collected Bobby Malchus, PJ Egbert and David McKay.

The third time was a charm. again Ruffin got the jump, with Brown moving in to challenge Webb as lap1 was completed. Caution was quickly back out when McKay caught a rut and spun, Shane Clement got turned sideways and Rick McCommas submarined under the side of Clement. on the restart Brown was trying low on Webb, while past IMCA NationalChampion, Henry Witt moved up to fourth after starting fourteenth.

Witt’s chance at a good run just as quickly ended when he broke the rear suspension and pulled off. At the same time Troy Taylor was spinning into the infield, getting stuck in the mud. A lap later Jody Mayne spun to bring out a yellow and giving Taylor a chance to get back on track. On the restart, Webb got a good jump and was able to grab the lead on lap 6, while John Allen was making a strong charge to the front after starting twenty-second.

Ronnie Sigman moved in to challenge Brown for fourth on lap 8, as Webb inched away from the field. Just at halfway the yellow flew again, for a bumper on the track. As green flew, Jeff White, who started eleventh, got by Ruffin for second and was looking inside Webb for the lead. At the crossede flags it was Webb, White, Ruffin, Brown and Allen in the top five, while Sigman fell out of the top five with a flat tire.

Taylor’s woes continued as he spun on lap 10 to bring out the yellow hankie. Webb got a good jump on the restart, while White and Ruffin fought it out for second on lap11. The same duo were wheel to wheel again on lap 14, until Ruffin slip up on White, who was forced to slow and fell back. with five to go, Webb had built a good lead, untilthe final caution fell on lap 18 for debris. Under green Webb inched away as Brown and Ruffin swapped second. As the checkers fell it was Webb in the Twister Excavation/Tony’s D&D Auto Parts/Race Art/Larsen Chassis? taking the win.
