RobbinsSr
what would cause a rear end to blow all the fluid out of the vent tube? Its a newly built 7.
Ford27
2 GUESSES ONE COULD BE THAT IT WAS BUILT TO TIGHT AND IS BOILING IT OVER OR FOAMING IT. THAT CAN BE CHECKED BY SEEING WHAT THE TEMP. IS. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO HOLD YOU HAND TO IT WITH OUT SCALDING IT. SECOND GUESS PLUGGED OR FAULTY VENT IS BUILDING PRESSURE. JUST IDEAS

RobbinsSr
How much gear lube were you running in it? about a qt and a half. up to the fill hole. It blew just over a qt out and now its whining like a quick change.
champkrt1
I would agree, something too tight. Drain the fluid into a clean pan, and then test with a magnet to see how much material it picks up.
matt5858
Is the vent on the right side axle tube. If it is I would plug it off and weld a fitting on the top of the diff cover. Then run a 3/8 hose off the fitting to a vent on the roll bar. I had the same problem with a 8.5 gm rear. This fixed it!
Pacecar
If it's whining already, then the gear teeth are now scored. So even if you get the vent problem fixed, the gear is now junk and will generate more friction and heat. This is when the used car salesman would put sawdust in the lube to quiet it until it's off the car lot!
