Killeen is next stop for Texas Super Sunday Series

KILLEEN, Texas (March 13) – With one date already in the record book and nanother lost to rain, the next thunder generated by the Day Motorsports Texas Super Sunday Series will be heard from Killeen.

Texas Thunder Speedway hosts the March 23 series event for I.M.C.A. Sunoco Modifieds and Stock Cars. Pit gates open at 5 p.m., hot laps start at 6:30 p.m. and racing gets underway at 7 p.m.

Two-division campaigner Tim Clonch of Quinlan leads all drivers with eight

career series wins and picked up a pair of them in the Modifieds at Killeen, in 1999 and last season.

Clonch also paced the Stock Car feature when the current series opened Feb. 23 at Abilene, while Keith McCullough of Pottsboro led the way to the Modified checkers.

Winners of previous Stock Car series events at Texas Thunder were Jeff

Turner of Seagoville in 2001 and Jason Bogard of Kempner in 2002.

Turner is defending champ in the Stock Car half of the tour and tops the

career wins list for that class with seven.

The scheduled March 9 program at Thunderbird Speedway in Crandall was a casualty of inclement weather. From Killeen, the Sunday Series travels to Thunder Mountain Speedway at Rusk on April 13.

Drivers’ eight best outings in what now promises to be an 11-event series will be used in determining point standings and championships for both classes.
