158 IMCA Modifieds, 11 Stocks pre-entered

for Duel In The Desert special at Las Vegas

 

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Nov. 6) – Early entries for the final event of the

2008 IMCA race season now number 169.

 

Las Vegas Motor Speedway has pre-entries from 158 IMCA Modified

drivers and another 11 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car drivers in hand for its

11th annual Duel In The Desert special Thursday through Saturday,

Nov. 13-15.

 

The Modified main event pays $5,000 to win and a minimum of $500 to

start. Stocks will run for $750 to win and a minimum of $50 to start

in their first-ever appearance on the ½-mile Dirt Track at LVMS.

 

Eddie Martin will be back to defend his 2007 Duel title. Other former

Modified feature winners among the early entries are Johnny Saathoff,

David Murray Jr. and Joe Antonetti.

Sixteen heat races and a qualifying feature are now sched uled on

opening night for the Modifieds, with eight “B” races and a qualifier

on Friday. Six last-chance features, lined up by points earned

Thursday and Friday, will complete the starting grid for Saturday’s

40-lap feature.

 

Heat races and a 15-lap qualifying feature for the Stock Cars will be

run on Friday. Saturday’s main event will be 25 laps.

 

The Saturday program will also feature a special Shootout open to

drivers finishing in the EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour top 20

standings.

Both the Modified main event and the WWMT Shootout will be qualifiers

for next year’s Fast Shafts All-Star invitational bal lot.
