WHAT: IHRA’s Knoll-Gas Motorsports Nitro Jam Series™ returns to Rockingham with the World Finals, the final event of the $21.5 million Knoll-Gas Motorsports Nitro Jam™ Drag Racing Series

WHEN: Friday – Sunday, October 17 – 19, 2008

 

WHO: The stars of the IHRA Nitro Jam Series, including Top Fuel dragsters with world champion Bruce Litton, Terry McMillen, Bobby Lagana Jr. and newcomer Spencer Massey.

 

Fans will experience the power of 320 mph Nitro Funny Cars featuring Terry Haddock, Bob Gilbertson, Jack Wyatt and newcomer Matt Hagan.

 

Defending world champion Scott Cannon Jr., former world champions Mike Janis and Quain Stott and points leader Kenny Lang in nitrous vs. supercharged Pro Modified. Nitrous-powered drivers Mike Castellana and Jim Halsey, who have finished 1-2 on the qualifying sheet at three consecutive races, will look to make it four in a row.

 

Seven-time and defending world champion Mark Thomas, Rob Atchison, Terry Munroe and Laurie Cannister, who has clinched the 2008 world championship, in Alcohol Funny Car.

 

The world’s fastest and quickest Pro Stock cars, featuring IHRA’s version of NASCAR, the 220 mph factory hot rods of defending world champion Robert Patrick Jr., former world champions Pete Berner and Brian Gahm. Berner will also be squaring off with John Montecalvo in the final round of the $100,000 Torco Pro Stock Showdown.

 

WHAT’S AT

STAKE: In addition to the individual class purse up for grabs, drivers will be competing for points with the ultimate goal of being crowned world champion at season’s end. Each class champion receives: Top Fuel - $150,000, Nitro Funny Car - $150,000, Pro Modified – $50,000, Alcohol Funny Car - $35,000 and Pro Stock - $35,000

OF FIRE: The Saturday “Night of Fire” show is brought to you by Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers. It features the final round of professional qualifying under the lights – including two flame-burning Nitro-fueled classes – and the ground-pounding jet-powered truck, fireworks and much more!
