rebelracewriter
Donlinger found himself starting 12th in the first Real Racing Wheels "B" Main that would transfer just two drivers to the evening's Championship "A" Main. As the O'Reilly USMTS points leader, Donlinger was guaranteed a spot in the "A" Main either way, but provisional starters do not receive coveted passing points in the main event so "earning" his way into the big dance was pivotal. No problem. In less than 18 laps, Donlinger had disposed of drivers such as Dereck Ramirez, Tommy Weder Jr., Tommy Myer, Jared Landers and Johnny Bone Jr. to win the race and earn a spot in the 40-lap nightcap. REAL RACING WHEELS “B” MAIN #1 (18 laps, top 2 advance): 1. 3d - Tim Donlinger -- Rochester, MN (12) 2. 4r - Dereck Ramirez -- Woodward, OK (1) 3. 02 - Tommy Weder Jr. -- Woodward, OK (3) 4. 65 - Tommy Myer -- Blooming Prairie, MN (2) 5. 777 - Jared Landers -- Benton, AR (6) 6. 12b - Johnny Bone Jr. -- Pea Ridge, AR (4) 7. 21 - Jim Horejsi -- Echo, MN (8) 8. 61m - Shawn Peterson -- Cottage Grove, MN (15) 9. 18 - Justin Boney -- Leavenworth, KS (16) 10. 2 - Joey Schaefer -- Waterloo, IA (5) 11. 12j - Justin O'Brien -- Volga, IA (14) 12. 1a - Dwaine Hanson -- Lakefield, MN (10) 13. 23 - Darwin Karau -- Kasson, MN (18) 14. 118 - Chad Vaith -- Racine, MN (7) 15. 1t - T.J. Stalker -- Mason City, IA (9) 16. S43 - Shaun Olson -- Albert Lea, MN (17) 17. 22s - Chad Kinder -- Newton, IL (11) 18. 49x - Jay Poidinger -- Somerset, WI (13) After a fiery presentation to introduce those that would compete in the 10th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree main event field, the drivers climbed into their Modifieds to battle it out. Donlinger found himself in the 19th starting spot with a treacherous three-wide start upcoming, and up against 30 of the best drivers ever assembled for one contest. Getting a top-5 finish would be a huge task. Getting a win seemed impossible. No problem. HOLLEY CHAMPIONSHIP “A” MAIN (40 laps): 1. 3d - Tim Donlinger -- Rochester, MN (19) 2. 14 - Jon Tesch -- Watertown, SD (3) 3. 12 - Jason Hughes -- Westville, OK (8) 4. 33z - Zack VanderBeek -- New Sharon, IA (21) 5. 90 - Steve Wetzstein -- West Concord, MN (1) 6. 724 - Brad Waits -- Waseca, MN (6) 7. 19 - Mike Sorensen -- Rochester, MN (10) 8. 3 - Kelly Shryock -- Fertile, IA (9) 9. 7k - Jason Krohn -- Slayton, MN (23) 10. 7 - Al Hejna -- Clear Lake, IA (5) 11. 00eh - Steve Arpin -- Grand Meadow, MN (22) 12. 4r - Dereck Ramirez -- Woodward, OK (24) 13. 20r - Brandon Kenny -- Woodward, OK (25) 14. 5 - Steve Holzkamper -- Gentry, AR (4) 15. 22k - Steve Kosiski -- Papillion, NE (14) 16. 98a - John Allen -- Chanute, KS (20) 17. 5t - Randy Timms -- Wheatland, OK (17) 18. 35 - Jeff Schluetter -- New Hampton, IA (12) 19. 3x - Brady Peterson -- Cottage Grove, MN (2) 20. 14j - Jake Neal -- Omaha, NE (11) 21. 31 - Corey Dripps -- Waterloo, IA (30) 22. 71 - Jason Cummins -- New Richland, MN (15) 23. 96 - Jay Ihrke -- Dover, MN (13) 24. 55 - Alan Mondus -- Lakeville, MN (26) 25. 72m - Brian Mullen -- Seymour, WI (7) 26. 74 - Mark Noble -- Blooming Prairie, MN (16) 27. 21c - Chris Brown -- Cleveland, TX (28) 28. 20x - Craig Scott -- Rosemount, MN (18) DNF 29. 21m - Dean Mahlstedt -- Clear Lake, IA (27) DNF 30. 02 - Tommy Weder Jr. -- Woodward, OK (29) DNF
97car
I saw him race 11 years ago at Royce City, he won on Sunday that year also. He would dust off his tires and run where no one else could, all of the others were just trying to hold what they had on a track that looked like it was asphalt, but was dirt, he passed them on the outside and could not be caught. That night he had to qualify among 240 modifieds with plenty of heavy hitters.
rebelracewriter
Ahhhhhh, back in the early days of the Longhorn Round-up, huh. I saw him at one of the 10K to win shows at I-76 Speedway in Ft Morgan, Colo. He won driving a D&M house car out of Dumas, Texas.
97car
Yes it was the second year and it was the Saturday night show that I saw. It was hard to tell the players with a program that night, but Jack Hewitt couldn't get out of his own way that night.20 heats, 3 features, started at 8pm at 12:30 am in car leaving parking lot packed stands. Makes me homesick.
