CC57
Ok, so I'm trying to fix my fuel pressure gauge that had basically quit working. The problem: alcohol corrosion had just about closed off the fuel line passage to the gauge. Pulled the fitting apart and cleaned up the corrosion. I’m beginning to wonder if alcohol is worth all of the trouble…. oops, I digress. So anyway, I manage to mess around and knock the gauge needle off of its pivot seat, so now it’s floating around in the front of the gauge (don’t ask me how this happened. ) So my questions are: 1. how do you pull one of these gauges apart, so I can reseat the needle? 2. What kind of liquid do they use so I can refill the gauge? Thanks all.
1-Crew
The gauges are crimped together as a unit, they are not serviceable. The fluid is usually glycerol but might be mineral oil. Not really important as you won't get it back together the same way ..
CC57
Thanks 1-Crew. Not exactly the answer I was looking for but thanks none the less.
Nathan
the best thing to do is replace it. even if you get it back together their is not a 100% chance that it will be exact. sorry but smileys has rebco fuel pressure guages starting at 27 dollars
CC57
.... sorry but smileys has rebco fuel pressure guages starting at 27 dollars Unfortunately if I replace with the same model of gauge, it's $79 + tax.
