Jeff’s Performance signs as new national sponsor with I.M.C.A.

SHERMAN, Texas (Jan. 23) – An engine building business that got its start in

a two-car garage is the newest national sponsor for I.M.C.A.’s Modified, Stock

Car and Hobby Stock divisions.

Jeff’s Performance Automotive Dyno Tuned Racing Engines of Sherman, Texas,

will award product certificates to the drivers in the three classes finishing

16th through 20th in 2004 national point standings.

Drivers can use those certificates in purchasing new short block engines for

the claim amount in their respective class, $525 for Modifieds, $425 for Stocks

and $325 for Hobbies. Retail value of the completely assembled engines is

$1,100.

“What I like about this program is that it will help more of the drivers

race for fun. Because of the number of engines we build, we can save them some

money,” owner Jeff Hill said. “There are a lot of drivers who go out there every

weekend, sup-port their local tracks and don’t have anything to show for it when

they go home. This is a great way to give something back to them.”

In the 15 years since Hill started the business in his home garage, Jeff’s

has grown to a staff of more than 20, working in a 12,500 square foot facility

equipped with a state of the art machine shop and super flow dyno service.

Now an on-track veteran of 26 seasons, Hill had been working on race car

engines at night while holding down a regular daytime job as a machinist.

“This is something I always wanted to do. I didn’t want to wake up some

morning and wonder if I could have done it and been successful,” said Hill, who

hopes his son can follow in his footsteps in running the business. “I tried it

and here we are. This program with I.M.C.A. is the next step.”

While the company manufactures all types of combustion engines, Hill hopes

to focus more on the short track side in the future. His senior staff, including

long-time I.M.C.A. Sunoco Modified driver Jeff White, compose the

high-performance department.

“I’ve been a racer all my life and a lot of the people who work here race on

a weekly basis,” he said. “We can help save racers a lot of money. Our volume of

business helps us keep prices down.”

“In working with Jeff’s we have created a unique post-season award program

that combines a great national finish with I.M.C.A.’s fundamental rule, the

engine claim,” commented I.M.C.A. Marketing Director Kevin Yoder. “In a sense,

qualified drivers will have the opportunity to claim a brand new short block

from an excellent engine builder, perhaps replacing one they lost during the

course of the season.”

“It is unlike any other program we have,” he added, “and we are excited to

begin this partnership.”
