rebelracewriter
Noteboom notches round two win in Dakota Classic IMCA Modified Tour ESTEVAN, Sask. (July 7) – Two familiar foes from northwest Iowa made an international trip to decide round two of the Big Dog Chassis Dakota Classic Tour for IMCA Modifieds. Jay Noteboom regained the lead from Mike Hansen on the 25th of 30 laps Monday night at Estevan Motor Speedway, then stayed in front the rest of the way to win by a couple car lengths. The victory paid $1,200 and landed Noteboom on the ballot for the 2009 Fast Shafts All- Star Invitational. David Murray Jr. was third, ahead of “B” qualifiers Aaron Turnbull, Shawn Strand and Marlyn Seidler. Hank Berry, winner of Sunday’s series opener at Nodak Speedway, ran seventh and now shares the tour point lead with Turnbull. Hansen drew the pole start after winning the third of six heats and led the first 22 circuits. Will Brack and Murray headed the pursuit early, with Murray into second and the ninth starting Noteboom into third by lap eight. Murray and Noteboom stayed with Hansen to lap 20, when a flat tire booted top 10 running Rich Lewerke from the field. Noteboom caught Murray following the ensuing re-start, then traded first with Hansen on laps 23 and 24 before taking the lead for good the next time around. Strand worked his way up as far as third in the late going, before losing positions to Murray and Turnbull on the last lap. Nathan Burke won his second Dakota Track Side Classic Series for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars in as many nights, chased to the checkers by Kelly Henderson. Kody Scholpp led the first eight laps, was passed by Burke and Henderson following a re-start and exited with a flat tire on lap 11. Randy Fyllesvold, Robby Rosselli and Jason Storbakken completed the top five. Fifty-two Modifieds and 20 Stock Cars checked in at Estevan. The next stops for both series are Tuesday and Wednesday at Williston Basin, N.D., Speedway. Modifieds are at Southwest Speedway in Dickinson, N.D., on July 10 and finally at Dacotah Speedway in Mandan, N.D., on July 11. Feature results Modifieds – 1. Jay Noteboom, Hinton, Iowa; 2.
